Epiphone presents the Ltd. Ed. Johnny A. Custom Outfit, the premier signature archtop by renowned guitarist, singer, and bandleader Johnny A. Featuring Johnny A's custom double-cutaway design in a Sunset Glow gloss finish, plus Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers, Ebony Fretboard, Bigsby® B70 Vibrato, and hard case.

Johnny A, Living Legend: For over two decades, Johnny A. has cultivated a reputation as one of rock n' roll's supreme guitarists and bandleaders. And his custom archtop, which features a sharp double cutaway along with its unique sound hole design, has made Johnny A. one of the most easily recognized players working today. Now, Epiphone presents Johnny A's first custom signature archtop for the "House of Stathopoulo" in a beautiful Sunset Glow gloss finish.

Flame Maple Top and Ebony Fretboard: The Ltd. Ed. Johnny A. Custom Outfit features a thinline style semi-hollow Mahogany body with a beautiful Flame Maple top finished in Sunset Glow. The Johnny A. Custom is easily recognized by its double cutaway and features modern non-script "f-holes" with a matching black pickguard. The body of the Johnny A. has 5-layer white and black (pure white/black) on the top and 3-play binding on the back. The Mahogany neck has a Custom "C" profile with 3-ply pure white and black binding. The Ebony fretboard includes Johnny's unique pearloid inlay and has a 12" radius with 22 medium frets and 1.69" nut. The bound headstock has an Epiphone logo in pearloid along with a custom "Johnny A." in pearloid.

Gibson 57™ Classic Humbuckers: The Ltd. Ed. Johnny A. Custom Outfit is powered by Gibson '57 Classic Humbuckers, which are based on Gibson's legendary hand-wound "Les Paul Standard" humbuckers from the late 50s. Today, those rare pickups are recognized by collectors by the black "Patent Applied For" sticker on the back, applied at the factory. Today's new Gibson 57™ Classic humbuckers are made with the same Alnico II magnets as the originals (plus a reproduction of the "Patent Applied For" sticker!) and are wax potted to keep down noise and feedback at high-volume. Gibson 57s also include vintage style enamel-coated wire, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers, and 2-conductor braided wiring for a complete vintage experience without the vintage price tag. Controls for the Johnny A. are standard Volume and Tone pots for each pickup with Gold "top hat" knobs with metal pointers.

Bigsby® B70 Vibrato and Solid Epiphone Hardware: The Johnny A. Custom features Epiphone's legendary rock solid hardware including an ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge and a classic Bigsby® B70 Vibrato along with gold nickel hardware, an Epiphone Heavy-Duty Epiphone 1/4" output jack with an all-metal jack plate, gold pickup covers, and Epiphone "Deluxe" machine heads with a 18:1 ratio. A hard case is included.

Lifetime Guarantee: The Ltd. Ed. Johnny A. Custom Outfit comes with Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 365/24/7 Custom Service. Available for a limited time only. Visit your nearest Authorized Epiphone Dealer or visit Epiphone.com for details.

I saw this posted on a FB group I follow. After a delay from last year, it appears Epiphone is finally going to release the Johnny A custom! I have pined after the Gibson version of this, but didn't want to sell all of my other guitars/amps/pedals to buy one. The Epi still has an ebony fretboard, and still has '57 Classic pickups. I've not inspected a really high end figured top before, but I assume that on a Gibson it's a solid top (and as the son of a wooderworker, I know that's mucho expensive). On the Epi, I assume a veneer. Still, this thing looks amazing, and I will be purchasing one in June when they come out.

    Hey All,
It's been a while since I have been interested in anything in the Epi world, but this is worthy! It's really nice.
Some unclear specs about the construction. I read somewhere that is was a semi-hollow, but the website didn't specify.
In either case it looks great and I am interested in buying one, if I can get one here in Canada...

I heard around 1K street. What's a Johnny A rounded C neck? Numbers would matter more! How does one go about securing one of these? Several retailers have told me their preorder allotment is spoken for.

Ahhh... this saddens me (both price-wise and availability-wise).

As for neck numbers... the Gibson versions are typically around 0.830" - 0.870" at the 1st fret and 0.960" - 1.000" at the 12th. Hopefully Epi will stick to similar type numbers.

I thought about it for a while and decided to go for it, so I went to my friendly neighborhood guitar store and ordered one on Saturday. They said it might take a few months to get it.

As for the construction, I doubt that it's made like the Gibson Johnny A but we will found out soon enough...

    Hey All,
So I got a call from my friendly neighborhood guitar store saying that my new Guitar has arrived.
I went during lunch to pick it up and we opened the box at the store to inspect it.

The packaging and case were great, including a signed certificate. It looks hand signed...
The guitar is really quite pretty. Nicer than I expected. It is much darker that it looks in the pictures.
It is more tobacco than the bright yellow in the pics. To me this is much nicer and I am very happy.
The Back is a very dark red. The neck feels a lot like the original Gibson JAS models.
It feels very solid!!! It seems to be made of all solid woods. I think it's full hollow like the original.
The top is a very nice looking veneer. It looks gorgeous but no 3D effect.
I was surprised to see that it was in tune straight out of the box. The action was ok too.
They offered to do a quick verification and setup. so I agreed. The tech said the intonation was good.

I will be taking some pictures tonight and I will post them with a full review. I can't wait to plug it in...
