Intheblues bought one with his own money (GT 200) and did an honest review of it. Lots of great new features that can be buggy, and took away some features that were invaluable. Good for cleans, not so good for distortion or pedals. Basic gist, if you have a Mustang v.2, don't bother. Which I shall be doing.

Last night I plugged in and played with my Mustang III v2. It really is a great little amp. Only thing really missing is Bluetooth and perhaps WiFi. Otherwise it is so much nicer looking with the silvery Fender grill cloth and tophat knobs. Having the buttons to switch effects on and off on the panel is a must have. To me the GT series just looks like they just overall cheaped out

The only thing I dislike is the 70s Marshall tone. My fave tone I'd want. Can't get rid of the boxiness. Totally useless. Fortunately, the Fender Bassman can do a good Plexi tone, and the 80s Marshall can cover the higher gain that the Bassman can't. HiWatt, Orange, Vox. All pretty good, especially the Vox. And the Fender models are fantastic. The main thing that keeps me from selling it.

Here's the hands on with all 3 Mustang GT series amps. Great sound quality.

Shane's "intheblues" review went from mediocre to brutal. Returned it and says the MIIIv2 is much better. Ouch!

Fellow MIII v2 owner here. You can get bluetooth with Remuda. I actually wrote software that does this also, but just don't have the time to support something I am not going to make any money on right now. Fun project though.

I found the same thing about the Marshall tone and that is my main "go to" tone too. I bought an AX8 and couldn't be happier with the Marshall sounds coming out of it. Amazing.

How do you go about getting Bluetooth? Still need an external USB Bluetooth?

Yes. I wrote a program for an Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and an Android version that works.

I saw that Remuda does Bluetooth but figured I had to buy something. Didn't figure out that it uses 2 Android devices to accomplish it. Interesting. Used my phone as a BT server and my tablet to play around with the Mustang. Worked flawlessly! And the bigger screen makes a huge difference. Might pull the MIII out of mothballs and put it in the TV room and use an old phone as the server. It's like a whole new amp! Falling back in love with it.

Yes, and if anyone thinks He's just against modelers, not true. He does a regular Mustang Monday thing where he shares presets he's made. He has very favorably compared the V2 Mustangs to real amps, and has gigged with them.

Here he reviews well the littlest Mustang V2, and says he is buying one on the way out. He is just very honest in his reviews.

I also wonder if the GT he used was clipping on input when using pedals. Cause that was awful sounding and sounded like the pedals might be clipping the input.

Fender dropped the ball big time on this. The CODE is looking a lot better now.

Maybe it is a matter of a firmware update that can correct some of this. Hard to believe they would have gone in such a bad direction???

    No doubt. Keeping mine.

Sounds like the speakers could be one of the major issues. Cheaped out on that, among other things.

Looks like a major fail by Fender. Maybe they should have stayed with the original line and updated to a v3 with some of the added features of the GT.
