Any one care to speculate??
I wonder what will part will be more accurate then before
....and what part with be less accurate
Except for the transitioning 50th anniversary R0s, what makes you think they'll be any different than the 2009s? The next time Gibson makes any changes will probably be 2014ish.
Your are probably correct, but every year they change something right or do i have my time line incorrect?
I predict Gibson will do some or all of the following:
a) Paint the sides and backs even pinker than they have been since 2006.
b) Use leftover Norlin bodies from the early '70's
c) Send rosewood to Rio and then have it shipped back to Nashville so they then can claim it is Brazillian
d) Re-introduce the three piece neck as part of their "Green plan"
e) There will be a Justin Blieber signature Burst issued with only 5000 aged and signed available
f) Still insist that their finishes are real nitro and not waterbased paint
g) Twelve more Slash inspired limited edition guitars will be released
h) Introduce "recycled" Maple tops
As long as that rosewood comes with as Brazilian MAMA!!!!
pls gibson move the tp in the right position. make a correct looking carve, a thinner real nitro, cellulose inlays, correct binding.... and i'm sold!
As far as e) goes...they'll only make 12,000 of the 5,000 aged Justin Biebers..
you're a hell of a salesman, mike! where do i get one of these Gibsuns at?
old broken down looking van in parking lot.I'm sure they'd throw a stereo or two in with the deal...
I'll wait for the Beiber Vos the signed and aged is way overpriced.
I'm not sure what the changes will be, but I'm pretty sure there will be an $800 upcharge from the previous year...
Too funny for words M60, though the "recycled Maple Tops" idea is not actually a bad one if 100+ year old stock was readily available, though I know your being facetious and probably mean "recycled" from the Epi factory.
Edit: Meant to speculate on the possibility of a really well hydrated Custom Historic???
g) only 12? how disappointing,
Gibson knows they have to tickle our balls with the new"improvement" each year to make us stay excited for their product. I'll bet they have a five year plan of changes to come. My guess is sooner or later they'll remove the truss-rod condom and use hide glue. They use hide glue on some of their acoustics already so....why would they wait? The tickle. By the way I own a 2007 R9 but had to get a 50th '59 anniversary R9 for the changes, so I understand falling for it.
Gibson will get bought out, everyone will made redundant, production will be moved to a 3rd world country where little children who previously spent 24hrs a day stiching FiFA Footballs getting paid sweet FA, join the computer controlled production line! and the greatest musical instruments in the world are no longer!
It's the 50th anniversay of the SG Les Paul in 2011...perhaps they will make 6k SG's? My wager is some sort of Murphy aged SG's, or some other way to capitalize on them. SG's as a whole are not a huge seller, so they could get burned if they get overzealous.
Yeah, SG Les Pauls has got to be the thing, with "short magnet" Burstbuckers from mid-summer onwards. In 2012 the pickups will become '62 Classics, complete with Patent Number stickers in the wrong typeface. Hopefully by 2018 we'll be ready for the next onslaught.
