A nice and sweetly priced welcoming present back to playing more, have been on a guitar break for almost 2 months.

Plans are to see how I like the JB/Jazz combo, I do actually have a 89-90ish stamped PAT# 500T and 490R if not..OR a T Top set..with T Top covers and real witch hat knobs.

I hope my white V ages like that! That’s gorgeous...

And I hear ya about the case. My Explorer has one and it doesn’t fit in my tiny car :laugh2:

Mine had the smaller case. I went with 57/57+ Classics in mine, 500k audio pots (hate those Gibson linier pots) and the obligatory pickup rings, and vintage witch hat knobs. Next up is the Faber tone lock ABR-1 Bridge, already got the tail piece locking studs.

    Noice!

Don't lay that case flat, pilots will enter the pattern over a deck like that.

I love that era Gibson. I have a '90 Les Paul that is a fantastic guitar. And I ALWAYS wanted a V. HNVD!

    That is a beauty, Kris!

I like the T-Top and witch hat plan. :thumb:

I had a JB in a mid 70's V and it just sounded dull, to me. I have an Andy Timmons DiMarzio (basically a JB) in my n.r. Firebird and I don't like it (got some Tom Holmes to go in it, just too lazy to do the work :( ). The AT sounds OK with the volume rolled down a bit. It seems to have a notch where it brightens up and opens up a bit. So I just never turn it up past 8.

PS - if it was me I'd see if I could find an old raised Gibson logo for the headstock ala:

    That's a killer V Kris.

    Congrats!!!!!

I still haven't had a chance to add a nice older V to my collection.

If I'd stumbled on that '90 for a killer price, I'd have been all over that.

The last few years, I've been trying to find as many "Made in 1990" guitars as I can.

My son is an AMAZING guitarist, and he's into guitars as much as I am.

He was born in 1990, so I'm picking up as many good '90 examples as I can.

Right now I have 4 '90 Fender Strats, and 1 '90 Fender Bass.

I've been trying to hunt down a good Gibson from '90, but haven't had any luck.

    I'm still looking though.

I've always wondered that myself. You'd have to fill in and retouch the nut side mounting screws, and then there may not be material to screw into for just the one screw in the middle.

Maybe a headstock overlay would be the best way, but that involves much more work.
