Hi Everyone! I just completed a very fun journey that I wanted to share with you all. Knowing that I would (probably) never own a real 'Burst, I wanted to get as close as I could....and that meant going the conversion route. It took me a long time to find the perfect guitar as I wanted A) The original maple top, B) An original ABR-1 model (i.e., no neck reset or extra holes), and C) One that was already converted (I didn't want to convert a perfectly good Gold Top). This was not an easy task! Finally the 'Burst Gods shined down and the perfect candidate was found. It had an amazing conversion job already done and was painted an interesting red color (someone was clearly a Harrison/Clapton Lucy fan)! It was very cool in its own right, but seeing the hints of flame in the original maple underneath, I knew it was meant to be a Sunburst. With the help of my friend Kim Lafleur, the Sunburst is complete! Meet Linus... Cheers all! - Trey Original 1956 maple top with the P90 routes; Just finished sanding Beautiful and clean conversion to Humbucker routes Original conversion (the original 1956 head-stock paint was kept) Naked and ready to become a Sunburst! Seeing the light of day for the first time as a Sunburst! Original headstock paint with a lot of vibe! Set up with '59 PAFs and ready to rock! Tasteful checking and vibe! An equally vibey back to match! One last time relaxing in the sun!
