Don't give up so quick, my friend!

What's new to you could be old hat to the seasoned members here. :thumb:

Have a little faith, troubles should always be expected when trying something new or unknown.

That's why we celebrate the rare times everything goes right! LOL! :laugh2:

Thanks for the encouragement gents, I really appreciate that!

Well, I figured-out why I couldn't get the track to play. Now my problem is that I can't hear the track in the background, which I'm playing through my Mac, because my amp is so loud. If I'm not playing, I can hear the track. If I'm playing along, it drowns it out. I even tried headphones, same thing. If I click on the track in GarageBand for the backing track, it plays, but then the recording/my track, doesn't record?

Het Matt....I think either turn down your amp or turn up your stereo system?

Do you have your recording track armed for recording while running the playback?

Headphone Amp if you've got to have big volume on the Guitar Amp.

Put the Guitar amp in another room or box with the mic.

That would be too easy Chris. :laugh2:

I guess I could do that and use a pedal to get a little better tone?

I think so? Guess I'll find out?

I have to have the mic plugged into my Mac. The cable for the mic isn't real long. I had the amp facing out of the room (decided to record in a different, smaller room) with the mic in front of it. I was actually behind (not directly) the amp, next to my Mac in the hopes I could hear the track. No dice. I don't have "real" headphones. What I used were the headphones for my iPhone which I plugged into the back of my Mac.

There are some things you just can't forego....like headphones and a long cable....

Are you using any sort of acoustic treatment to get better recordings? I'm trying to make my own based on this guide http://subreel.com/make-acoustic-panels/ but so far am struggling with the frame!

I've got a similar setup as I'm recording USB, interested to hear your results.

    Hey Beno,

Good article. No I'm not, at least, not at this point. I'm still grappling with volume issues, i.e., my amp vs. the track that I'm playing to.

Thanks for the post and :cheers2:

    ^^^^^^

I would venture to guess you are grappling with more than THAT!

Still no guitar! Still no guitar! Still no guitar!

6 months later and guess what?

    Still no guitar!

    Are you in Primus?

I was without a couple of them for a day, my 355 included. They had a visit with my Tech.

Although he does live in another city, about 20mins away, he's a bit closer to me than Freddy is. :laugh2:

If I were closer to Freddy and he'd be so kind as to work on my guitars, there's no doubt I'd bring them to him. I'd just have to renew my passport, which I really should do anyway.

I'm 167 miles to Syracuse, 258 from the HOG!

    Ummm, No! :laugh2:

But don't you worry, Next trip to Fort Plain to visit friends gets me out 77 miles.

Where I work has a warehouse in Canastota. That puts me out 142.

And I'll bring my recording rig and a good video cam and we'll make you famous!! :D

I just hope you can at least PLAY better than you record! :wow:

No kidding? I thought you were closer? I'm probably about 45mins from Canastota.

Re the playing/recording, don't get your hopes up! I will admit that I was pretty good when I was younger though.
