Hi guys, total noob to much of any recording, so bear with me.

I've done some recording on my MacBook using a Tascam us 800 usb interface with GarageBand. No problem, I can navigate that pretty well.

Recently I won a new iPad, and would like to leave it set up in my jam room for recording any time I feel any inspiration. It's a 5th Generation 32 GB iPad. I cannot get the ipad to recognize my usb interface, nor get any sound through to the iPad via the interface. I had to get a USB coupler to make connections work (admittedly, this may be my problem). Currently I have my guitar plugged into channel one of the tascam interface. The output on the tascam is one of the old square shaped usb ports, that goes to a typical flat rectangle 'regular' USB, i have a USB coupler next, then to the usb end of the lightning port input, then the lightning port is plugged into the iPad.

Any advice on getting these devices to talk to each other??
