Anybody play bass here? I made a goal a few weeks ago to record an original full length song. I only play guitar and have never even picked up a bass that I recall. So... recording a full song will be a challenge but should be fun. Drums will be another interesting piece of the puzzle but I digress...

So I purchased an inexpensive Ibanez GSR200 in Jewel Blue from Guitar Center. A beginner bass for sure but seems solid and looks great. I plugged it into my interface unit and played a bit through Reaper. Seems like it will work fine, just have to figure out how to play it. Any tips? Anybody else do any recording and play a bass track or two?

    Here is the guitar.

Nice bass :thumb: I bought a Jazz bass for recording purposes, I don't know if I'm any good at it, but it is fun to explore a new approach on another instrument

We had a similar discussion going a while back and i still drop in from time to time.
While you're waiting you could pass the time with a look here. Also feel free to comment or reply there too!
Yes I've played bass for almost 30 years now and switched to guitar in the last 15 or so. Kind of going the other direction of you!
Good luck and have fun! Ask away!

    So true! It's almost embarrassing!

    Can you make a 7, an L, or a Z pattern across 2 frets?

Listen to old motown, rush, and maiden for how to play bass. Practice rolling as you will be doing it a lot and need to do it cleanly.

For what you need it for, should be fine. You may want to change the string to flats. Personally it's the only way I can get into a bass.
