I mean the one you can't live without. The one that just nails it every time without too much tweaking.

Its a toss up between two The Mojo Hand Rook and the J Rockett Animal.
Guess I have to go with the Animal.
It does the Timmy thing and gets into Marshall sounds.
The Rook probably has more character, but not quite as much range with gains as the Animal.

So lets hear about your favorite OD. :thumb:

For me it's my own build, the White Rabbit. I can dial in some low gain that keeps my tone there but adds some bite, or I can spin the knobs to BD-2 or TS-9 territory, or even higher to get right raunchy. The other gotta have it for me is the Marshall BB-2. I love the wooly feel it gives but it can get pretty bassy.

I go back and forth between the Boss SD-1 and my Klon clone.

I have two SD-1's; an unmolested MIJ '82 or '83 and a HIGHLY modified MIT version. They have a really nice crunch that I unconsciously compare all OD's against.

The Klon is on my board right now. It is a very nice crunchy OD that also provides an amazing amount of extra harmonic quality to my tone.

As a caveat, I just got the opportunity to play a 1981 MIJ Boss OD-1. If I can pry it out of the owners hands this will end up in my grubby hands and will most likely kick both the SD-1 and Klon off my board. . .amazing sounding OD!

gotta say my Hardwire SC-2 valve distortion... it just has that natural oomph and balls to it that I could never live without.... if fuzz is included in this then it would be my Big Muff ... that fuzz is so versatile !

I love my Fulltone GT-500. Mostly use the boost side for clean/solo boost. The Distortion side has a bunch of gain but I keep it at the crunch tones and use the amps distortion for the heavy stuff. This kind of gives me another channel on the amp. Has a switch to put boost before or after distortion and can run at 9 or 18 volts. Love the damn thing. Want to try an OCD and some of the new Hardwire od pedals at some point too.

    Noice!

I just emailed JHS... I am going to see if they will modify my Morning Glory to have more gain. Not modify it to State Line specs and change the cut knob, but just to add some more dirt to it. The State Line was a MG and Angry Charlie in a double enclosure and they only made 130 of them for Black Friday last year.

I thought about going with the Double Barrel... But, I just love the MG so much that I don't want to alter it with another pedal.

Mojo Hand Rook HANDS down. While it's true it's medium gain at highest levels, I'm more into low-med gain anyway nowadays.

Have you tried putting a clean boost in front of it? I did with a Micro Amp. A whole new world of sweet tone! :dude:

Not really an OD, but I love my Beano Boost. It sounds terrible by itself into a clean amp. That's cool with me though. I either play totally clean or really dirty. I like it so much that I sold my Keeley modded TS-9 that I loved. It just adds the perfect dynamic to whatever dirt I put it in front of.

I was gonna say my Beano Boost, but the thread said OD!! :thumb:
They actually complement each other perfectly. Those two pedals into a Marshall and I'm good.
