I love this thread.
so what do you guys call this? I still haven't done anything to it
This is what you do....Get a box, pack it carefully, Send to my address.
I want to make book ends....
Srsly...That is some knock out figure, lets see.....Quilted Flame.....?
I think thats appropriate...
Anyone else care to dub this wood into the knighthood flame heraldry?
I proclaim that as Gorgeous!!!
When finished, IMO, that one will be a Tiger flame or a large fingered Fiddleback.
nope, it will never leave my house
Of course not!
You are doing a build however? It will be a killer top thats for damn sure!
You can send it to me , I know what to do with it ...
And than i'll call it MINE
Beautiful maple is a start
yep, I'm on my way on building 3 LP at the same time. but this baby will be done last..
come n get it
Very nice Romantics
I will be working on your board's twin next weekend
we are getting the tops from the same seller!
@JimmyM Man this top will be absolutely amazing after you're done with it, the figure is out of this world... Completely stunning! BTW, the type of figure is called "cloudy maple" in german .
I'm posting some pics, shot this time with a better light. Hope you enjoy. I don't know if the top is a good example of pinstripe, so you decide:
Why thank you!
It's not to everybody's taste but I'm hoping it renders a likeness to my all time favourite burst 9-0627
The end grain on both halves appears to be rift/flat sawn but there is no loss of figure through the boards.
The quarter-sawn top on your RTG is sweet perfection - like a jacquard silk.
Wow look at that thing! Real consistent flame!
Wow, HopelessRomantic, that's gonna be a sweet looking burst. I love it when the flame has a slight angle between the PUPs as this pronounces the top carve remarkably. I hope you keep us updated with the progress
I'll post updates photos when I start to build it. But right now i'm quite busy with my job. Maybe in a month or two, I'll make some progress..hope so!
Love it been dreaming of a guitar like this my whole life
I've saturated the forums with snaps of my R9. However, I'm genuinely interested in the flame. Some say BBQ, others disgree. The top is hard rock maple and is certainly quarter sawn (there is flame as well as grain).
Over to you guys.

Matt, BBQ is not a real name, only one given for perfectly straight bookmatched grain because it obviously looks like a BBQ Grill Plate; i.e. nick name.
Most of the names we use to describe flame patterns (e.g. Fiddleback & Bengal Tiger etc.) are not actually correct, only a simple way to describe Flame for guitar lovers.
Awesome guitar BTW. Whomever originally picked that one out has seriously good taste in guitars.
