All in one pic...
Just saw this post -- thanks. Very helpful summary.
What a great thread! Thanks! From your info I reckon my burst is a Heritage flame top chevron.
Don't forget the rare and beautiful "blister" top.
Yea LPCollector....Blister tops man....we are waiting.....
Thanks! I sort of got lucky i guess. I bought it January 15th this year though it is a 2011. I went to the greater Toronto area and went to 7 Long&McQuade to finally find her. All the other stores did not have R9's in stock. When i walked into the store, I didn`t expect any and to my surprise, they had 2 of them. this one was by far the nicest. To be honest, as soon as i saw her, I knew i was going to be mine forever. Love at first sight!!!!!
I took one more pic without the pickguard
Nice Top, a lot like my 03 R9
Flamed Maple is called Figured Maple, but there are other types of
Figured Maple that are not Flamed.
Birdseye Maple is most often Acer saccharum (Eastern Hard Rock Maple),
although this can be found occasionally in most Eastern Hardwoods.
Quilted Maple is most often Acer macrophyllum (Western Maple),
and is the most pronounced when the lumber is Flat Sawn.
Blister Maple is most often an Eastern Variety of Maple, and is
similar to the Quilted effect found in Western Maple.
Very nice examples...I read somewhere (or saw it on TV) that there is a rare figure that is only found in logs that have been underwater for a long time, not the same as quilt. Anyone hear of this?
Now, IMO, Quilt is a flame!
See I can remember how to upload one or two...
Yes..... I am drooling...... You righties have all the fun!!!
How do I post the pictures big again... FORGOT!
What do you call the flame that is split? It looks like a propane flame.
warning: link will take you over to the OLP. Ribbon? tiger ribbon?

I would go with Ribbon....just cuz.....
It's been a while since a guitar's looks have taken my breath away. That top is an absolute stunner.
Very informative, thank you.
