It's great to have an opinion but sh!tting on someone's passion project because you don't like is a lot like telling someone their wife is ugly.. lol. If you don't like it, keep it to yourself.

I see plenty of NGD days and other threads that I think WTF, that's terrible... I keep it to myself.

    Anyway, congrats mrfett... badass axe!

omg i hate it, its disgusting, your left tesical should be removed and your right one should be chewed off slowly by a rabid gopher......

i am with you and have been critical on the manufactured aged look but that is beautiful and i know it will inspire you..... and thats all that really matters in my book....

now you have fanned my GAS for a goldie...dam you fett! ...enjoy it, its a beauty :yesway:

That is bad ass man! I love it! Yeah, I'd go for a set of Grovers.

I've got a 2010 R7 Goldtop Dark Back with a huge neck sans Bigsby that I've considered sending to Kim. Now I believe I will as soon as I can afford to. Thanks for sharing. Very much appreciated.

Having the neck redone was definitely the right move. I was afraid I'd miss the big fat tree trunk but I don't at all.

Home for a day, it's completely overcast but the light worked fine. What do you guys think, pickguard on or off?

Here it is with black plastics... doesn't really matter much to me either way but you're right this is more "correct":

I love Ratrods, Phat girls, and aged guitars, and what you got there sir, is awesome !
I bought a 2012 R9 with this heavy aged HM idea in mind. I have not commit to it yet, but this is gassing me up!

For the very first time in my life (I think) I say pickguard off. As a rule I always like it on, but with the Bigsby and the badass aging it looks great with no 'guard.

Yeah I'm thinking the same. I too prefer pickguards on but in this case I think an exception must be made. Thanks for the help!

Forgive me ,but the damage/wear on the top doesn't look like anything I've seen. Was there a certain guitar behind the inspiration ?

Nothing to forgive it's all good, I know this guitar ain't for everyone!

To answer your question yes, the main inspirations are Snowy White's '57 goldtop and two '56 goldtops owned by Charles Daughtry. I put pictures of them in the post that started the thread. The back was inspired by a '68 darkback goldtop.

I think the Historic Makeovers crew did an incredible job making a guitar that could fit right in with those 3 guitars. It needs a little more greening but that'll happen as I play it over the summer.
