Hello Aria, i just read this thread and yes you have all the right to demand a better product. The great thing is that sound amazing and plays great, so that is about 85% of importance regarding this Gibson Offering.

I have checked out other PK aged photos from other forums and most all of them are very wrong, some having the worst job done on the back of the neck, its terrible compared to the real thing.

If you consider this to be a true keeper and don't mind a refinish, the you can do that, if the guitar sounds and plays amazingly the least you can do is make her cosmetically perfect, you already know it does not look right to what it was intended for, so what the hell....

even though it plays an sounds great, i would get it done right - you payed a large premium and, honestly, the job they did on it is extremely poor...

but, obviously, your call. glad to hear it sounds and plays fantastic!

I haven't read the whole thread -I usually try to, and hate to be one of those guys- but I think the top figure on the OP's guitar is nicer, I don't know whats up with the "initial carving" though.

Just do what Koss did, sand the finish off. Could have saved 10k ffs. Would have something closer to the guitar that everybody knows and associates with Koss. A fitting tribute

Delete the "s" of the https. And this forum doesn't support these "youtu.be ...." links.

HM really does a great job. and I guess its even more attractive in reality. but damn, for that price, I can get a nice RI and age it myself ;-)
I guess I don't get it yet. Maybe I have to be more into the les paul collecting thing. well my R8 is VOS but that's probably as far as I would take it. and its more about getting nickel instead of chrome than real aging...
BTW, all historic should have vintage specs IMO...

plus , aging is also wood work over the years right...

If 10 grand doesn't provide an instrument exactly as advertised, then it really isn't about the customer. It wasn't the case of incorrect specification on the customer's behalf or unrealistic expectations, just a product that didn't match the ad. There are reasons why custom shops charge so much, and great attention to detail is probably the biggest one. It also provides an implicit guarantee that the customer is getting his money's worth - which is quite necessary since the customer cannot try the guitar out until it's all ready and shipped out. Caveat emptor is a scary advise at this price point and an appalling show of mistrust towards Gibson - I wouldn't quite go there myself. However, I wonder why Gibson doesn't do custom orders? :)
