Update! Update! Update! ....please?
Sadly there's nothing to update at this time...
I have to buy some spray equipment. Rattle cans are for the birds!
That has to be one of the best burst I have seen done. Right on my man. Killing it on this thread.
Well thanks! Your 1st post, and you complemented me? I'm honored.
Just went through the whole thread. Awesome!!! when do the commission builds start? lol
Ha. I have been coming to this board for years. I just figured I should make an account
But nonetheless awesome thread to start on
Anyway you can point me in the direction of the plans for that copy carver?
Copy Carver the woodcarvers copy machine
Thanks my man
Not really an update on this build per se, but I did go to the shop today to build a Sheltema neck jig. The "pucks" are custom shaped (a la Mojotron on TDRP http://www.tdpri.com/forum/3204115-post175.html ) to replicate my good friend's '56 goldtop. To use this jig to carve a Les Paul the headstock angle pretty much requires the router to be overhead (like so http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/4997492-post26.html ) so the pucks have to be swapped end for end.
I haven't built the over-head cradle for my router yet so I didn't get to test it out. I'll have to do that later...
I opted to let a real pro do the finishing for me...yeah, I wussed out. I just don't have the proper tools nor a good space for finishing. I'm glad I did though because they look so amazing! Big shout out to Michael Jordan from Rosser Guitarshttp://www.mylespaul.com/forums/members/mrj.html! You knocked it out of the park my friend. If you need any finishing work I'd highly recommend contacting him.
I just got these two finished for now. I'll either man-up and finish the other two myself, or have Michael do them later.
They came out really nice! Now put on the hardware and rock it!
It was a real pleasure to work with you on these guitars. You done an outstanding job on building them. I can't wait to see them completed.
Thanks very much guys!
Epically thank you Michael!
This is an epic thread and should be a must-read by anyone tempted to build an LP. Your pictorials and information on each step are second to none. Your modesty and proper member reference credit is very commendable. Thanks for your pain-staking patience and sharing. VERY inspiring build thread. I bet your chomping at the bit to finally play them completed. They were a long time in the making.
I really like the left one!
Thank you so much for this. My intention was to make a very complete step-by-step so that anybody who comes after could easily follow and be successful. I am very thankful for all the guys on the forum who came before me, and took the time to make their threads because without them my builds would have never happened. Of coarse. I'd still hope that any aspiring builder still check out the ExNihilo, Bartlett, Fletch, Monster Walley, Barnaby, Crompo, TKO, Greco, GooCart, JohnP-90, expo, Nocturnal005, Metamantic, and etc... threads. Everybody has their own way of conveying the steps involved, and one may say it in a way that makes more sense.
I never intended for this thread to drag on for over 4.5 years, but life, and especially my real job...kept getting in the way. Yes, I can't wait to play them.
That's my favorite one too.
Awesome thread- can't wait to see the finished product
