I opened this thread and noticed how old it is, and of course the topic will always be relevant.
My opinion, after watching local bands for decades, and having friends who were just incredible? The most under-rated guitarists are those who don't have super-management skills themselves (i.e. marketing), or who don't have super-representation.
Those fantastic guitarists are the most under-rated of all. And numbers are in the thousands of them.
Me. I'm tragically underrated. Most people think I'm incompetent, and for a long time that was true, but I've been working hard and now I'm edging into the realms of mediocre.
I mean, you know, we all need a little validation from time to time. Just give me some sugar, here....
Saw Buck Dharma and Blue Oyster Cult a couple of weeks ago. He can still play!
I agree. The best guitarist in the world today is probably an amateur.
Hardly known, but he did blow away Joe Satriani (he was his support lol) with his live performance.
