Just go away Carlos Santana! If you've heard one solo.......you've heard them all.
The Grateful Dead-I never understood the appeal and why the had such a devoted following. Anything must sound better when you're tripping.
'If the greatful dead can make it, anyone can"
Who said that ?
Most overrated performer - Elvis Presley
Most overrated band - Led Zeppelin
I hate this thread.
I've answered this before, but it's really a loaded question.
I might list some band which I think is good, but just gets more accolades than I see as reasonable, but someone else who thinks that band can do no wrong will think I'm saying that they suck.
Anyone who gets super-famous will have detractors who say the fame is undeserved, or at least excessive.
Often times, I just feel that a band's influence is overstated, but then the minute my fingers finish typing those words, I consider my own list of bands whose influence I consider to be universal and underappreciated.
Bottom line is that other people's opinions are usually filed under "whatever".
I recently posted my distaste for the Grateful Dead but also feel the need to vent about Ozzy Osbourne. I can't stand the guy. I always kind of liked Black Sabbath but Ozzy's wailing kind of ruined it for me. Always thought Tony Iommi was amazing and Geezer Butler was a great bassist but Ozzy- no thanks. I saw Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio on the Heaven and Hell tour and it was a great show. Couldn't stand anything Ozzy did solo either even though he surrounded himself with great musicians. In a way it is like Rush -don't like Geddy Lee's vocals but he is an amazing bass player and seems like a great guy so I can tolerate it.
I saw heaven and hell and the Tony's guitar was so loud and shrieking I had to leave and sit out be the concession stands. It was painful. Glad I saw them.
Terrible guitar player.
And the winners (well, losers) are:
KISS and GRATEFUL DEAD
For me, and remember, this is just my own personal opinion, for me overrated is AC/DC. Just don't like it.
I was just going to say that as I hesitated because I thought i'd get flamed. Some of their songs are alright, but why everyone praises them, and puts AC/DC shirts on their infants is beyond me. Maybe it's just the singing I don't like? It's not really singing to me, sounds more like shouting or yelling lol. Just my opinion though. Anyways, what band do I truly hate? Nickleback! Combine the lyrics "fast car", "bars", and "porno stars" and you have a Nickleback song that will be obnoxiously overplayed, always finding a way to your ears no matter how fast you run.
I hate the shorts Angus Young wear too. Looks like an idiot.
I saw him on the last tour. When he took his shirt off, it reminded me of Mr. Burns
The Jimi Hendrix Experience

That's right on the money. Never thought of that until you posted this.
I don't understand the dislike of AC/DC. One of the greatest rock bands of all-time. Angus's tone is to die for. The riffs and drive are just amazing. In my opinion, you can't be a real fan of the classic rock sound if you dislike AC/DC.
