It's a good thing that strings, speakers, tubes, circuitry, tone & volume controls, strings, cabling, wiring harnesses, pickups, strings, neck setup, strings, room acoustics and playing technique have absolutely zero effect on tone, or those two planks wouldn't sound ridiculously similar.

Oh and did I mention strings?

    All of it matters.

A still contend the sprigs used in the pickup covers matters quite a bit.

Eddie Van Halen agrees with me, which is why he bolted his pickup directly to the body.

If wood didn't matter, there'd be no reason other than tradition to use specific woods.

Often we don't even notice when we do it or why off the top of our heads, but we all do it. The other thing I noticed was changes in volume which could effect the tone we think we're hearing.

Different wood is for looks only and conning people to buy something they do not need.

All in good spirits Mikey, but if the picking and attack, the changes in volume affect the tone in this video,
shouldn't you discard it as a demonstration of "wood" ?
    Because you know, science?

For me the more rigid the better. An aluminum neck through please. Set stainless frets into it and call it a day.

    Gentlemen,
if wood wasn't important, would they have a cat watching live cutting for quality control?

    I rest my case.
    Yes, guitar case.

Never cared about any of this,..
I have 4 Electrics that play and sound different from each other..been happy with them for over 40/50 YEARS,,
    66 ES355 SVTD Custom ordered..
    65 ES175
    71 Les Paul Custom
    71 Stratocaster..
    edit:
    yesh forgot s 69 ? Fender Coronado..that lives in it's case..

Of course I have played newer guitar..just never did anything I can't do with these..
    Just me..playing me..

Had many others..just bought for playability and sound.. Who cared about tone woods back then ? Never heard about hide glue or whatever..
    "Just play the dam guitar"

I had Gretsch..numerous Fenders..60s Epiphones.. Never cared what it was made of..IF it played and sound like I wanted..
I sold guitars from the mid 60s to 70s.. NEVER had anyone Pro or otherwise talk about construction or wood type..
    Just the sound..
