I just changed my title, so I'M now Billy Badass.
I can't believe I didn't think of that...grrrrr.
You need to remain the Voice of Reason
It's a good thing that strings, speakers, tubes, circuitry, tone & volume controls, strings, cabling, wiring harnesses, pickups, strings, neck setup, strings, room acoustics and playing technique have absolutely zero effect on tone, or those two planks wouldn't sound ridiculously similar.
Oh and did I mention strings?
All of it matters.
A still contend the sprigs used in the pickup covers matters quite a bit.
Eddie Van Halen agrees with me, which is why he bolted his pickup directly to the body.
If wood didn't matter, there'd be no reason other than tradition to use specific woods.
You forgot marketing.
Often we don't even notice when we do it or why off the top of our heads, but we all do it. The other thing I noticed was changes in volume which could effect the tone we think we're hearing.
The guitar volume knob has a HUGE effect my amps tone.
it's got to look good and stay in tune. after that, i'm thinking the pressure treated sounded pretty damn nice
The real question is, could you hammer a six inch spike through one of those with yer weenus?
Different wood is for looks only and conning people to buy something they do not need.
All in good spirits Mikey, but if the picking and attack, the changes in volume affect the tone in this video,
shouldn't you discard it as a demonstration of "wood" ?
Because you know, science?
Hey, you wanna come after my assets, you better have thicker skin than that.
That was tit for tat regarding you coming after me.
But whatever, have a nice evening anyway.
For me the more rigid the better. An aluminum neck through please. Set stainless frets into it and call it a day.
Piezo pickups. Not relevant to this.
Not relevant to anything for me, I hate them.
Go ahead and top wrap one...... You'll see.....
I guess you won't be buying mine.
if wood wasn't important, would they have a cat watching live cutting for quality control?
I rest my case.
Yes, guitar case.
Never cared about any of this,..
