I think Monoprice can be a little hit or miss with their products, but it's hard to say these could be a mistake.

I may be a little concern with its reliability and quality for based on the MSRP... Imagine old Bugera era...

I have a Laney Lionheart 5 watt or I'd try one of the 15 watters with a 12" speaker and Spring Reverb.

3 AX7's and 2 EL84's. Probably sounds like way more than it costs!

If you get one, PLEASE do a full review. Demo videos would be a great addition!

    Thanks for the heads up!

It looks like a rebranded Laney Cub.

Someone here did a full review:

Read the comments for notes about the reverb tank on the 15W.

My sons got me one of the 5 watt versions for Christmas. I only fooled with it for an hour or so, but A/B y'd with my Class 5, I love the little thing! Where the Marshall is dark it's bright and the breakup sounds good with humbuckers. It's not nearly as loud as the Class 5 but the Micro-mass makes it pretty easy to balance. Hell, if these were around back in the 80's I might have used 6 or 8 of them instead of my V4 and 4-12 bottom!

Hacksaw, I love my Monoprice 5w as well. If you want a little more out of it, try removing the NFB. If you take the amp apart, it's a small component next to the ext. cab output. Just clip it or put it on a switch if u want.

I have the 15w version. I use it to backup my blues junior and for friends that stop over. I like it a lot. Fuller sound compared to the blues junior. More bottom end and just a little less bright. It breaks up/distorts easier than the blues Jr. Mine has a 1w jack if you don't need the volume. Reverb is touchy. Have to keep it turned down or it starts sounding distorted. I have a nice replacement but haven't gotten around to putting it in. All in all a very nice little amp.

I actually had to look for a technical explanation of what it does, but from what I've read, it dampens the gain. this is a fairly common mod for this amp and others like it. There's even a video on YouTube about it, except he switches the component out for another value, but he says that removing it altogether is an option, which is what I did...honestly, if I managed to not screw that up (which is a miracle) then it must be simple lol

Don't get me started on all of that cheap crap from monoprice.
A buddy of mine got one of those slave labor built pieces of $h!t and it caught fire while he was playing it.
Poor solder joints loosened up and shorted out . . . .

What caught fire? Solder joints don't. Boards usually don't. Fuses melt pretty quick. Fire or smoke. Major difference. Not odd for an amp to blow...and there's a fuse... Amps I've seen burn stuff up usually involve some damn Klewbie cheating the fuse.

Poor solder joints loosened up and shorted out? Loosened up? Shorted to what? Has to move to short to something... The 15W boards look pretty spacey to me...

Slave labor built pieces of shit? Are the two Laney twins "slave labor built pieces of shit" too? You do know they're rebranded Laneys? Know how many "slave labor built pieces of shit" amps there are....some with some pretty sporty names... Know how many "slave labor built pieces of shit" components are made and what all they're used in? Lots of "slave labor pieces of shit" guitars out there too.

You do know Monoprice doesn't build stuff, don't you. It's rebranded other folks stuff...

I'll give on the point that the pilot light on the damn thing is an idiot pain in the ass design....
    But Mono didn't design it...
The slave labor rat bastids did...
