I watched Ultraman beat up Godzilla last night.

...I also noticed at episode 16 the mask that Ultraman wore made a massive leap in quality from episode 15. ...I'm that much of a dork I noticed.

seriously though the mask looked a lot better. Cleaner, brighter, sharper lines and features. :laugh2:

and the first 15 episodes there's something weird going on around Ultramans mouth, and the center spine is a little,..rough looking...

    UltraHerpes!

but at Episode 16 it got real clean looking, the whole mask looks a lot better. Every part of it is cleaner and sharper.

The Game is Afoot! Must investigate.

I watched Gojira again this morning with my coffee and cereal,man....such a great movie. Tonights feature for me is Gamera vs. Guiron.

Just a side note: I really wish this would go through,I think it would be spectacular....

    Diggin' our thread:dude:

I don't think I've ever watched Ultraman. It's just too wacky!

Mal, watch the "Mysterians" for an interesting Japanese scifi. After all these years I've yet to decide if I like it.

yeah BP that 2016 Gamera trailer seems to be like the 2016 Ultraman trailer. Something made more for the Anniversary of the series than anything else.

Don, Ultraman is a kick-ass alien superhero who punches giant monsters in the face. There's a lot to like. It's sort of like that 'Shazam!' superhero where an ordinary person turns into the Superhero. And the Hero is sort of another unique identity and they share the same body,..or something.

Plus it's 50 years old, and 'The Ultras' are a race,..so there's been like...30+ different Ultramen? ..all from the same planet.

There's Ultraman, UltraSeven, Ultraman Jack, Taro, Ace, Ginga, Dyna, Tiga, Giga, Gaia, Zero, 'X', Zoffy, Ultra Father and Ultra Mother, Mebius, Leo, Eite (80),...etc etc...

    shrimp kabob..shrimp gumbo..

    028c1e6f07a322561d3f317460cb8526--forrest-gump-movie-quotes.jpg

    :laugh2:

there's been like 30 series in 50 years. Each one has like 50 Episodes.

There's a lot of Ultraman to watch if you get into it. Some are kind of "kiddy",..but some (like Leo) are dark as hell.

Dark as in, Guy gets eviscerated by monsters in front of his traumatized kids who just stand there staring at Dads mangled body.

actually by eviscerated I mean, "Torn in half."

It's a cool show. I like it anyway. But I like Superheros and I like Japanese stuff and I like monsters. Put them together in one show and it's an easy sell.

Plus as much as I like the old 60's and 70's version of Ultraman because they have that quaint niche weirdness that 60's and 70's shows have,..the newer shows and movies have better budgets and effects and just look a lot nicer and cleaner.

I like it but there's a lot of it I haven't seen either.

I will go back and like EVERY post. Ultra-man, Space Giants,Godzilla, Johnny Sokko++++++++ taught me to suspend disbelief when living life. Ignore the zippers-believe in monsters. I was in a state of shock when Zetton "killed" Ultra #1 and Zophi came down a 'rescued" him. Birth-death-re-birth! You want to check this book out-pure goodness if you love classic monsters.

    +1, Zoffy is a bad-ass.

I ordered a little Zoffy figure. $6.02 shipped from Japan.

Is there any significance to this ship picture in the background of this scene? Anyone recognize it?

no idea. I thought it might be The Lucky Dragon that got hit with the bikini atoll fallout, but it doesn't look it judging by the photos of the ship/

Maybe it's just a random background pic.

Hey Tim did you watch UltraSeven,..the series that came out after Ultraman? I haven't seen it yet (I want to finish the Original Ultraman first) but from what I've seen he does less of the superhero powers and a lot more just shanking mofos using that blade on his helmet. I saw a few clips of UltraSeven and every clip he was just hacking off limbs and slicing throats. :laugh2: ..man "kids shows" were a lot different in the late 60's and early 70's!

I've seen about half of the original Ultraman episodes, all of Ultraman 80, and maybe half of Ultraman X.

And a few of the movies.

What about Kamen Rider, that came out in '71. Did you see that? The motorcycle hero.
