no problem Don. Hope you like Mecha Ghidorah.
Double feature this week, thanks Mal, never got to see G vs King gidorah, This be rockin.
cool man hope you dig it.
vs King Ghidorah was my first exposure to a "true" Godzilla film, when BBC2 aired it as part of a "Monster night" marking the release of the 1998 remake. The Monster night stuff is worth a look, actually. Documentaries and comedians/TV personalities betting on Kaiju fights:
Special effects, especially CGI has advanced so much in revcent years, yet more and more now, I appreciate the artistry of the Japanese use of suits and miniatures. Watch a Godzilla movie, watch him stomp his way through Tokyo and/or fighting another monster. Then bear in mind, not only did someone design and make those suits, someone else also built an entire detailed minature city from scratch. I love that.
totally agree. I was really impressed with the sets in Godzilla '84. The night scenes with the buildings lit up and the signs lit up, the cars with lights on moving down the streets.
Some of the shots from inside a building looking out where all the furniture/desks/lamps etc ... everything is a meticulous model. It would take forever to build all that stuff.
...then they stomp on it and blow it up.
Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla was on today.
I think that Godzilla was so angry because he had giant crystals growing out of his shoulders. That must be uncomfortable.
that was a seriously pissed off Kaiju. Just a bad attitude all the way around.
hahaha, this looks great and terrible! It's a giant, pirate, zombie, crab monster, with a shark in its head.
so whats not to likesomething for everyone
I like that when America goes the Kaiju/Ultraman route it decides on a Zombie, Pirate, Crab-Monster with a Shark in its head.
and the shark has a lazer in its head
New Movie is up.
Hope you all liked last weeks Double Feature.
Did you do this last one a little different, Mal? Usually when I click on the movie, it downloads, then I can watch it. This did not seem to down load, as soon as I clicked on it, the movie started to play. No problem either way, for me, I just wondered
you can right click on it and choose download.
usually I upload a folder that contains the movie and the srt (subtitle) file. And lately I've been zipping that folder first.
This weeks movie was small and the subs are hardcoded into it so I didn't have to do all that stuff.
It's not the greatest quality with the small filesize and all. But some of these weirder or more obscure movies I'm kind of just taking the versions I can find. It's certainly watchable and looks ok.
Gamera is a fun movie though and probably a nice change from all the Kong and Godzilla lately. I was thinking of posting the 70's King Kong with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange but I figured we just had a Kong movie and needed something else.
cool. thanks again for taking the time to do this. Your movie host name? Mal Evalent... what, too evil?
hahahaha, that's actually pretty good.
Hope you like the movie. There's a scene where Super Gyaos attacks a train and rips it off the tracks. They show the rest of the train falling onto a crowd of running people, and Gyaos rips the train car apart and starts eating people.
It's not super gruesome or bloody but I thought that scene was pretty cool because usually these Kaiju movies don't actually show people being killed or eaten.
Gamera kind of grows on you though. At first I was like, "uh,..it's a turtle" but after watching a movie or two you kind of get over that and see him for the badass Super Kaiju he is.
Well darn it, I missed this second feature. Stupid busy work schedule got in the way of me keeping up with important stuff like this.
Send me a PM I can hook you up with the Second Feature (GZ vs KGhid) that you missed.
Mecha-Gidorah is so cool. It's worth not missing out on such a unique Kaiju.
when tusky turtles take on beastly birds much fun ensues
