Hows the GT gold rat rod going, had time to get her all shiny as of yet?
Shiny? I thought you wanted it looking "flat" like the others?
If not, I have time to make it shiny. Your other box came drilled wrong so I've got another one on the way now.
But your GT Zen is done. So is the Green one.
Flat...like a matte finish..? I don't think I requested this Like what others?
(lil bit confused)
I mean is the clear coat done, AKA shiny...? Does not have to blind me but shiny is good Rat Rod could get away with matte I think, and what ever that Yellow pedal with the wasp had for a finish, thats perfect for the Klon }-)
Keen to sort the bill out and get em thrown on a big plane
Yeah, all the rat rods were cleared with a flat clear. Looks "dull."
If you want it shiny, that's fine too. I can just take it apart and spray it. No big deal. I set these up to be able to pull out of a shell without having to desolder anything.
Its cool Josh, flat is fine for the Rat So the Rat Zen is finished...? Pic
Didn't grab the green guy though. I'll do that tomorrow. Been busy with my new truck while I wait for the Rootbeer enclosures to clear a touch more before I start messing with them.
Notice the holes for the jacks/power? FAR too close together. It's been donated to my daughter to mess with. PP didn't want it back after I sent them a few pictures.
That rat Rod is smokin! Good to see her all built \m/ Cheers brother
So I tried a few different opamps in mine. So the differences I found where very minimal if any. The 2107 was what I settled on but that's only because it cost the most and I don't want to have a $14 dollar chip sitting in a drawer.
The 2134 and 2604 were basically as good and sounded to my ears the same as the 2107. I tried the AD712 in it and found that it had slightly less clarity.
Hope that helps anyone looking to swap chips. I don't think it's worth swapping unless you just want to tinker. They basically all sound the same.
So what happened with the red box? Do you still have it?
His red box was sent out a while back.
Are you looking for a Kandy Red box or something?
Beerdog, sent you a PM.
A couple of shots of JVM's finished Copper Top (not a Zen)
I really think running this at 18v would make more of an audible difference.
DON'T run this at 18v. The input caps are not rated for it as that wasn't a thought in this build. If you are handy, just replace them with any 32v rated cap and you're good to go.
Any updates on my Rootbeer Josh? When will it hit the road?
They will depart my house Friday morning. Thats about when I'm comfortable placing them in the boxes for shipping. I've been leaving them in direct sunlight for several days now.
The paint is hard to the touch and all that but I've had problems in the past with the bubble wrap reacting with the still curing paint. I'll post a picture shortly of what that looks like.
Excellent! Thanks for the update!
Sure thing. This is an example of what happens when the paint reacts to the bubble wrap. This is from a box I made a couple of years ago. I have a bunch of darn boxes laying around.
What no DMM for the next build?
I would definitely be interested in a good boos though, if you want a straw poll vote. Had my eye on a SHO for awhile before college sucked my bank account dry.
Count me in for the next build if it happens
