..as a follow up...I'm finding that .011's really work well on mine!
    Thats...011 - .014 - .018 - .028 - .038 - .049 ...seems to allow the proper tension when tuned to the key of "A"
    I'll post pics soon.
    Thank you again FLICKOFLASH! :applause:

New here so this is an introduction first.
Second is I'm looking for a Les Paul Mini for a Customer/Collector here in Houston. I've searched the "Buy, Sell, Trade" thread and found nothing, but I'm admiring the guitars and the workmanship in these threads. Does anyone have or know someone that might be interested in selling a Mini?
I made this based on the Les Paul Design and I could make my customer the Mini, but for some reason he's in a hurry. He is a serious collector and will pay well for the right guitar.

I had an old copy of Guitar World that had as its guitar centerfold, two mini Goldtops that Gibson made for Les Paul & Mary Ford, for their stage show.
I tried to find a picture of them online, but couldn't.

    Those were cool.

That's the issue, and those are the guitars, and there was a centerfold of just the guitars.

    Thanks

If I were to undertake a build of one of these are there any templates or blueprints available anywhere?

I believe this is the centerfold you're referring to:

I always thought those goldtop octave guitars they made for Les Paul were a bit homely (and that's being nice), so I designed my own version:

And then built my own mini burst version:

Frank, I absolutely love your minis. What ever happened to that thing that we all voted on?

    Thanks Jomo!

That thing you all voted on was the Project Guitar website's "Guitar of the Month" for September contest. And I won! Thanks to many of my friends here. It seems I lost a number of votes because people were getting my octave guitars confused with my 1/2 scale minis, and didn't think they were actually playable. So the extra votes I got from here came in handy!

    Thanks again!

And they are very nice--beautiful work.
But I wouldn't call the ones made for Les & Mary homely. They're beautiful too. I like the tailpiece--it echoes Les' original idea--but done properly--and yeah--that's the poster. I've had that one hanging on a few walls in various places I've lived over the years.

Pinefd builds by far the BEST looking mini pauls!

I agree that the bodies on the others just don't look right.
