    I know ya asked kris, if I may interject -
    That is why god put tone controls on guitars and amps :) seriously tho
    just plug it into sweet marshall valve head and have at it!

    I used an early 80's Marshall JCM800 1936 2x12 cab with my 1987x loaded with stock vintage G12-65's.

    One of the best sounding cabs that I've ever owned.

    Cabinets aren't just cabinets,What i mean is Building one mite sound like a dud newer one often sound Bla.. Listen to this if you haven't seen these videos already. Sorry im a little late to the cab party.....












    Like i said any old cab just won't do There's a lot to a cabinet choice.

    Yeah, bright with '78 2203..(with EQs set of course;) )but cut thru like a surgical lazer. (which was part of it's charm)

    I hope the 1960AHW fits the bill for you. It seems like a great option!

    As for the Mesa angled 2X12, I have one and it is an excellent cab, albeit a bit pricey. I pair it primarily with my Mesa TA-15 or Marshall JCM-1H, and it sounds excellent in both applications. As with most things Mesa, it is built like a tank.
