    Just heard this on the radio. Sad news.

    Highway to Hell
    was the seminal music of the first part of my freshman year in high school (PF The Wall came out in November of the same year and sort of took over...until July '80 when Back in Black came out - holy crap what a 12 months of magic that was).

    He will live on through his contributions to music that I happen to greatly enjoy.

    Sad news, RIP Malcom.

    While I'm not a huge AC/DC fan, I certainly recognize his contribution to rock music. A
    criminally underrated guitarist, he wrote some classic songs and riffs that will stand the test of time and will continue to inspire countless legions of kids to learn the electric guitar. Like many pure rhythm players, he was content to sit back and hold down the song while letting others get the attention and glory.

    What an awe inspiring band they were. Malcolm quietly rocking it at the back.
    Saw them at wembley arena in the late 80's I think.. cannon and bell and all. Such simple power. RIP Malcolm, along with Bon now and other greats. I sure would like the music being played where they have all gone! !
    Im missing the standards and originality recently. . Not that im ready to go just yet..

    I know a lot of people that love ACDC and love Angus but feel that the signature sound of ACDC came from Malcolm. Seeing his face on a few tattoos of different guitar players that's cool. Rest in peace Malcolm you will be sorely missed. And of course the music lives on which means that so will he.

    Very sad to hear. His music will live on long after they are all gone. Nearly every time I pick up a guitar, one of their riffs springs forth.

    One of our local luthiers had a story or two about Malcolm. Apparently he was the shit-disturber in the band and could always be counted upon to get up to hijinks when the rest of the band just wanted a nice cuppa tea.

    Of course this is 3rd party anecdotal, so take it as such. In any case, an era has passed. RIP Malcolm.

    There was no more solid rock rhythm player than Malcolm Young, i know what I'm listening to today.........R.I.P. Malcolm.
