I guess I should have mentioned that I was not taking a cheap shot at the thread itself. I think people should do as they please with their guitar, personally, I would just save a little and get a real Gib:)

The car was a piece of shoit!:laugh2:

    Thanks for the compliment, Brian.

I thought about putting "GIBSON" on the truss cover but it's not a Gibson & really don't wanna look like I'm trying to pass it as 1. Plus the Gibson Jr's have a cursive "Junior" on the truss cover so if I did get a custom cover, that what I'd put.

Right, I was just running with the "Makin' my Epi's look like Gibsons" thread title and your extensive and comprehensive makeover example. ;)

BTW, those Gibson TRCs come factory on a lot of 90's and 00 era Epis so not much of a lie.

Oh, I gotcha. With my Jr, I used the Gibson model as a base & tweaked it to my preference.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Honestly I kinda prefer the solid black trc. It gives the 'stock a simple/plain look.

Kinda like making a VW look like a Porsche. It's still a VW. I like VWs. If you want a Gibson buy one.

To each his/her own. I'm a casual player so I can't justify breaking the bank for a real Gibby or Fender. I'm making my guitars the way I want.

You know, it used to be common for people to put Porsche engines in Volkswagens and race them.

Also, a Volkswagen will never be a Porsche, but a Porsche will always be part Volkswagen. :laugh2:

Brian, that's way cool! I never knew about that model. I guess a Volkswagen can be a Porsche. :dunno:

Is that right? I thought Porche had 39% stake in Volkswagen.

It's confusing who "owns" who, but VW is definitely a much bigger company.

I do know that Ferdinand Porsche designed the Beetle for Hitler.

Hitler funded the VW, but Ferdinand Porsche was working on the concept long before Hitler got involved. I'm pretty sure Porsche's idea was initially turned down. My VW history is a little rusty though, I'll admit.

I don't know anything about who owns who as far as the two companies go. I just know that they were both Ferdinand Porsche's designs.

My "holy grail" car would be a 1938 KFD Wagen.
