    Hi Everyone,

I'm curious about your comments and opinions about a M2M Custom Shop Special with one humbucker. I've been thinking about one for a while. Thanks! Jim

    That's not a Junior?

If like the above, that would be a Junior as the Special would have a bound fretboard.

A single cut but with an open humbucker and the bound fretboard of a Special. Thanks for posting this, I recall seeing this some while back.

Thanks for the responses - I already had a conversation with Music Zoo about such a M2M guitar - TV Yellow, single cut, Special headstock and binding, black humbucker. I even have a quote, which means it can be done. I was looking to design something that would be very unique and wanted to see if anyone had a similar guitar like that here or any experience with that configuration. Thanks!

For that sort of thing I'd be going a single p90 every time. The concept seems great though.....but I'd be making a short odds guess (given its a CS guitar) that its expensive for what it is.

Cool but seems like more if a novelty thing to me. I'll bet you can buy two used R8s for what that new would cost new and its resale will be horrible, but hey, if it's a dream guitar sort of thing, go for it.

I think it's a slightly flawed great idea: if you're going to get a Special, which are ace guitars, get a P-90 neck pickup to complement the HB in the bridge.
I love keeping my neck pup at low volume for a cleaner bit - a P-90 is perfect for that - and flip the switch to the bridge for the heat or go in the middle for a nice honky blend.

Save some money and find a used single pickup R5 or R8 etc Of course you can do whatever you want, just be prepared to take an absolute bath if you ever want to sell.....

Not a bad Idea....but pricey.....Just get a good used "Vintage" one and mod it! Pull that ancient, old, dusty, P-90 out and slam in a Throwback or something....:run:Don't forget to route it extremely bad ...and use plenty of furniture filler to fix the inevitable tear outs

Thanks everyone for your responses! I have a few things to think about before I go any farther.
