I never usually mess around with pickup height or action on my guitar but today, I decided to lower the pickup height to be level with the pickup ring. I decided to do this because I was looking at this photo and thought to myself "I should try this out and see how it works". The following picture is my guitar with the lowered pickups and feel free to tell me what you guys think about this decision I made.

It is lowered relative to the strings not the pickup rings.

Sounds amazing! I will definitely consider trying this out on some of my other guitars.

Is this the LP Special II AFD? If so, I have one and feel the pups sound rather mushy, too much output for my taste. Did the lowering clear up the sound?
If so, this might be an option for me right now untill I swap out the pups for Iron Gear Tesla Sharks (Alnico 2s). I have one in my mostly used LP in the bridge position and it sounds great.

I don't like my pickups jammed up close to the strings, as I don't like the "overloaded" PU tone that results. U's so easy to bump up output elsewhere in the signal chain that I like to start with a really clear voice and work off that. So I don't use hot pickups, and I do keep 'em away fro the strings. Sounds like you're having a similar experience.

Yes it is. Bought it in 2015 for about $200 after convincing my dad I needed a new guitar.
