Hello, i am looking for info on what i believe is a 1969 gibson sg.
i am not sure if the guitar is what i think it is but every sign points to it being exactly what i think it is. i bought it at a pawnshop this morning for $300 it was $600 but i got it for 50% off (they were having a sale)
any info on this guitar would be greatly apreciated
Value, is it real, is it original and is there any significance to this model

    Thank you

You got yourself one hell of a deal. All signs do point to 69 and the pickups, electronics and hardware appear to be original.

The crack at the base of the electronics cavity is unfortunate and the seam at the heel where the neck meets the body has some paint chipped out making me wonder if anything happened there but even if there was it looks clean and at that price I wouldn't care at all as long as it is stable.

    Great score!:applause:

Thank you very much for validating that my guitar is original. you cant imagine how exited i was when i read that.
if possible would you happen to know what one of these would be worth in today's market in the condition it is in (i can add more pics if needed).
the sad part is, knowing what i know now about the guitar i cant justify keeping it. its guitar that needs to be insured. im gunna be parinoid to leave my house having it here lol, if it was the $600 guitar i originaly thought it was i could keep it but i cant if its worth more than that.
also i added a better angled pic of that neck joint i dident notice any paint chipping the clear coat is cracked but there is no missing paint or clear coat from what i can see.
again thank you very much for your response.

Just keep it and play it :thumb:

The value probably isn't too crazy for guitars nowadays, and besides, it'll urge you to play some more! Congrats on the find!

Great find for great steal price. :dude: Its seems to be early 69. The value is much much bigger than you paid, even with those small (cracks) maybe.

Keep it, only the pickups alone have at least double value than the 300$ you paid.

Nice score! I have a '69 SG. These are great guitars. I can tell you, I paid a heck of a lot more for mine. And I thought the pawn shop deals had dried up years ago...

Value? Minty ones are regularly advertised for USD$5000+. but I am confident they dont sell for that. This and other forums often have these late 60s SG's (with issues) listed for anywhere from USD$2000-3000 and they too struggle to sell.

Its a buyers market right now. If you are desperate for $ then you should be able to move it but if not then the upside isnt that huge so I'd hang on to it.

DAMN GOOD LOOKING GUITAR! WTH can't I find deals like that? You got a really good deal for $300. I doubt the Pawn Shop owner didn't know what he/she had!

    You got lucky!
