I ordered a set of nickel Tone Pros Kluson style locking tuners a few weeks back and they arrived today. Just finished installing them (pics below) and am pretty happy with the result. Not only is stringing a breeze now but the extra mass on the head is a nice thing...they did give the guitar a tad more meat over the original tuners. They are rock solid and really accurate. Great tuners.

Looks wise it takes any vintage idea and tosses it....but I don't really care since this isn't a vintage guitar.

String changes are going to be a breeze with these and, lets be honest, that is the best reason to use locking tuners.

Heeeeuy, I've had those same TPKB3-L tuners from TonePros on my LP Studio. I loved them! Great tuners!

Do you have some day pics? Maybe I'll consider them buying again for my new LP..

I'm a big fan of locking tuners.
    Way better for string changes.

Locking tuners rule. I put some locking Grovers on my Custom. Along with my TonePros locking bridge and locking tailpiece, they squeeze out a little more sustain.

I like the idea of locking klusons, but not loving the knurled lock on the top. I like that they keep the original look though. How do they lock? Just tighten the thumb screw down on the top and that's it?

I've got a set of these in black on my worn brown studio. Since the face of the headstock is black they blend in very well unless you're very close. I love them. I use Schallers on my Fenders but these are better in my opinion.

String changes are a lot quiker with locking tuners, but also I find that the strings settle quicker without having winds around the posts.

I agree that they do ruin the vintage look but I love locking tuners. So those are direct replacement for the Deluxe? I might have to do that on my BJA.

My 'Robot' came with lockers as standard (makes sense with the amount and frequency of tuning high-jinks available).
Wouldn't have occurred to me to think about changing to them otherwise, but they are brilliant.
Personally I wish they were smaller but that's a functionality sacrifice.
This has to become the standard way to go on future LP's(?).

When you change tuners on a LP, are they tuners and headstock tuner holes all consistent? Or do you need to modify the holes?

The Kluson locking tuners were a direct drop-in replacement for my worn brown studio. No modifications needed.

Probably very convenient, but ugly as hell.
In the end, what is the time advantage? 1 minute per string? 6 minutes on a whole guitar.
    Hmmmm.
With my paul with bigsby it already costs me 20 minutes to completely change. Then 26.
Never break a string during playing, have a roller bridge. And always a spare guitar on me.

i have these "kluson type" locking tuners. i am not sure who the manufacturer is, i got them at all parts. i think they look better than the type with the big knurled lock on top. these have no lock to turn. they lock automatically when you tighten the string. inexpensive, too.

Hey Wiking, looks great. Any chance of popping a link to the exact tuners?
    Thanks either way.
