I know but to spend a few minutes extra and do the job correctly it worth it. You like the tone set at 7 because it is the sweet spot. That 7 will be there for the life of the guitar. Those little button pots have a 7 spot also, it will move as it wears away. They are far from correct and you will change the pots later on any way so do it the right way now.

Why don't you just buy some more knobs and then just use the good ones. They're probably very cheap anyway, or buy some Epi or Gibsons
Don't modify the pot shafts to fit poorly made Chinese knobs, .

Did you find any cavity covers? I need to replace my creamy plastic with blacks.

Make sure your knobs all have the correct number of splines for the shafts you are using (metric/imperial). I have ordered them before and had both kinds mixed in a set of 4 knobs.

WEll I lost patience, looking for new covers, so I painted my original urine coloured plastic ;-) half matte black. I'm now waiting for new gold screws.
I'm contemplating making covers in mahogany some day.

So i just got it back from guitar center and played it and it sounds almost like a gibson, the phase shift or reverse really makes a difference in the tone. He said one of the pots had gotten burnt so there's something else i gotta replace.
