I found a listing for a 90s Les Paul Standard with an ebony fingerboard. Problem is I can't find any information about it. I would post the link, but it's a hell of a deal and I don't want someone to snatch it.

It's definitely a legit Les Paul. Serial number verifies the year. Nashville Bridge and no snot on the inlays so I'm pretty certain it's not a Classic. No Custom Shop badge.

Anyone ever heard of anything like this?

I have an '04 Standard with an ebony board. I think they included them on any/many of the Custom Colors series they would do. It is easily one of my favorites. It is my buddy's favorite LP. He bugs me constantly for it.

There's no Custom Shop badge on the headstock though. Other 90s Custom Shop Standards and Classic had that.

I did see those online. This is a 90s one though and vintage sunburst.

Yes. A friend special ordered an l.p. standard with ebony in the 90s.
Also I have a custom with a rosewood board. I got it in a trade but it's legit.

They've still done them several time over. Point being, Standard with an ebony board... not that uncommon, though not every year.

He "upgraded" to circuit board and Burstbucker 3, with a '57 in the NECK!?

    Nice guitar... still.

What did a Standard come stock with then? 496/498? Probably was an upgrade! :hmm:

Most likely the 490/498, which I'd still take over that combo, with a circuit board.

I guess I'm a rare nut. I wish the PCB connection was standard among all manufacturers. No downside and easier to swap PUPs!

That board doesn't look ebony to me.

As a good portion of guitars (even some in the Gibson lineup) don't have access holes big enough to fit connectors through, I'm glad its only been even partially adopted by Gibson.
And if you have to fit a pickup to a molex connector after routing the cable there is your 'easier' down the drain.

@DarrellV has a Candy Apple Red LP Standard with a ebony board that I lust after, I believe it's a 1982, and it's not a custom and he famously sobs about it often. He has a lot of information on the subject.

Yeah, they are out there. Once sold an ebony board Standard with "cloud" inlays...1996 or 1997 I think. They aren't common but maybe marginally collectible?
