Better that it's being played than locked up in vault somewhere.
Unfortunately some vintage forum guys think that it is only allowed to play old electric blues on this guitar, be it in your man den.
Well I only think that if its MY man den.
Indeed. Though Gazza played rock on it. Even his blues was hardly old electric blues, more like blues rock.
I'm not a huge fan of Metallica to begin with and from what I've seen, Kirk could play a plywood Chibson through his rig and it would sound the same as everything else. BUT Greeny belongs to him, so kudos to him for rocking out with it on stage, instead of locking himself away with said guitar and box of tissues.
Meanwhile on Instagram...
Metallica is ......what is it? Trash Speed Metal? Metal....is Hard Rock....is Rock......is RocknRoll.....is Blues
it is all the same....
either you got the blues and take your guitar and rock it........or not
Saw them Sunday. He played it on Fade to Black, Seek and Destroy, and maybe one other song but I can't recall which. Personally I thought it sounded killer. I'm glad he's using it live and obviously enjoying it.
Pics from seeing them in Copenhagen
I'm not a massive metallica fan or hater. I've seen them a few times, but it's been many years ago. I always enjoyed Kirk's playing, wah and all. I'm glad he's out there rocking the guitar. It probably doesn't sound much different through his Axe-FX rig than his other guitars but I think it's cool he obviously digs playing it and hopefully new generations are discovering the amazing history of that iconic guitar.
Do you have to get a CITES certificate for yourself when you travel abroad ?
He doesnt need it. The species its in his name.
