I'm looking at buying an epiphone les Paul as similar in looks as possible as to what Keith used during the 72 stp tour. What is out there?
    Thanks?

Oh man.. I really need to stop reading threads like this. I had just "forgotten" about my black Custom GAS. I want 2 of them. One with P90's and one with 2 humbuckers.
Wait... let me rephrase that. I need 2 of them.

I am not sure what he played on the '72 tour. You might have a couple of choices.

I agree, black Lp customs seems to have a way of calling you, they're very beautiful and elegant guitars!

fortunately, Epiphone makes one of each :thumb: For my money I would go with the 3 pickup Custom, as I believe he used one on Sympathy For The Devil (which is one of my favorite solos and tones).

Do you already have a Telecaster? That would be my first choice is I wanted a "Keef 72" guitar

The 3 pup Epiphone has a Rosewood fretboard. I've nothing against that, at all, but just to inform the OP. :)

Im an avid Stones fan, til '74 anyway, and I think the Tele was the one most used by '72. They had written
Exile and Keith was in full open G mode. A capo'd Strat was used for Street Fightin Man. The Les Pauls
were used prominently in the earlier days. 67-68 and '69. That wack Goddard film, Sympathy for the Devil
has some great shots of Keith playing the Custom and writing the solo for Sympathy . . .

    But then--there is this.
Definitely '72 as evidenced by the Anita Palinburg influenced stage wear:

When I was browsing pix, I saw a standard burst. Was that before or after '72?

you know I've often wondered if they photoshop in that reflective arch showing the top carve of the Epiphone. Because a lot of the Epiphone stock pics seem to have that same reflective surface arch, and they have for a couple/few years now.

for a while it seemed like all the pics had it. Now it's just some.

idk it looks like a photoshop reflection to me.
