If this is your first time, here are the guidelines.

    What is it?
Every month I'll post a new backing track. It can be from any genre.
Download the track and record a solo over it.
Post your solo here along with what gear you used, recording equipment, and effects added. The more description you give the better.
I'm going to try and keep the backing tracks to under 2 minutes. Anything more is too daunting. Feel free to shorten it even more.
Try to get your recording in by the 3rd week of the month. We'll start over each month.
I'll take ideas on backing tracks so if you have a request, let me know.

    Why do this?
    Because it'll be fun!
I think this will be a great way to share ideas and see how each other interpret a piece differently. It will also be a good way to share recording techniques and receive overall feedback on our playing if we desire it.
    This is NOT a competition!!!
Majority of people on here post great feedback in a helpful constructive way.

    "But Bluto I'm scared!!!"
Look, I get it. Many of us are insecure about posting any of our own playing online. This is a safe place. I'm no guitar god. Keep it fun and I bet you'll learn a thing or two. If you're still unsure, read this: The Man In The Arena. Don't be that cold timid soul.

    Hey Kevin,

I keep meaning to mention it and finally am... if you have it, what would be useful at least for me is to know the tempo. What this helps with is setting up the project in the DAW so all of the measures line up at 1. I usually fiddle with it until it looks right but having it up front would eliminate the fiddling.

Will dive into this track later... thanks dude.

Come on now, let's not get people's hopes up. I'm just going to play the same lead I play over every monthly track.

Speaking of which, enough time in the shop. I need a small break from work... time for some fun, after I rinse myself of the wood chips.

I'M going to play the same lead I do every month, just on a different guitar with different FX.

Alright, did one, wasn't sure if I liked it, wasn't sure if I liked about 10 takes and then decided I better just keep the next one because this stuff isn't what I'm used to playing and it's as good as it's going to get.

    Take 1:

    Take 11 or something:

Yeah I wish I did. It would make setting up a lot easier. Unfortunately none of the tracks give me the tempo.

That's not bad. Mixcraft has something similar but you have to use the mouse. I find that to be pretty inaccurate.

Maybe I should not be the one to mention this but I am. I have noticed on all these that I listened to no one uses rests.
