You did well, the Helix got great features that the Pod don't have. To be able to add some "real" pedals is one of them.
I felt the firehawk was a toy, not a real tool.
I had a real bargain for the Pod, so it soote me when I saw the Helix come out a month or so later.

yea, I have yet to even scratch the surface of the helix... there are people plugging it into the footswitch jacks of some amps to channel switch their amps, on top of all the other features! :hmm:, you can turn off outputs to make is switch from your tube amp(running just effects in the loop) to running an amp-sim (cutting off the front of your amp)

it truly does more than I can comprehend.

Glad you're liking it! One of those would be so cool for my school program. Wishful thinking right now while I'm begging for textbooks.

Seems like we all swing between a set of real pedals and a compact multi effect processor :)

It took me some time to decide for moving from multi effect to few "real" pedals... not sure for how long I will stay satisfied before I think about switching to all-in-one processor again !

Looks like you were playing "Yahtzee" with your pedals

Nearly, I used a couple as stand alone and then, when I came back, shove them on the board and shut the box...

I AM liking it, but I'm not fully bonded yet... it's different and takes getting used to... you have to train your ears to hear differently... you are used to hearing guitar->pedals->amp->cab... but I feel like with the helix(or any modeller) you have to retrain yourself to not listen for 'amp in the room' sounds, but amp, mic'd in the next room... it's REALLY set up as "guitar->pedals->amp->cab->mic"

so it's more like playing and mixing a recording in one... not nearly as much 'instant gratification' as plugging a tube screamer (or glove OD in my preference) in front of a 6505 and just rocking out!.. it takes time and micromanagement to get what you want, it seems... but on the plus side, I've played more in the past week, than in the previous month.... you hear a new tone and you are instantly trying to exploit it and see where it leads, or if it can be more useful.... and down the rabbit hole you go.. when I play it, I'm all grins... but when I'm not playing it, I drift to "was it the right call?" some of that is plain old buyer's remorse though... it will pass :D

Awesome board there, never heard of the Hoof

Hmmmm.... interesting guy. You're probably a neat freak and might live in an impeccable house. You would have a background in design or engineering, and I think one of your persistent bugbears is having to look at that horizontal tuning pedal every time you admire your beautiful pedal board. You sometimes are prone to heart burn, and are a relatively "less is more" kinda fella.

Ha! It's like you peered into my soul! Actually, I'm just a health inspector living in a pig sty. But you're right about the horizontal pedal! Gonna have to fix that...

I make $40k a year being a manager at Sears. Still live at home with my parents, and have a good gig every Sunday at church. Probably on match.com right now.

    Has a problem i wish i had.
My god man. I want that back row, that front row, hell I'll just have it all.
On a side note how do you like the gigrig g2? And do you find you use it to its potential or is it kinda overkill (but in a good way)?

I do use the G2 to its full potential. I have it midi switching, I like the idea of presets and hitting one footswitch, I use stomp box mode too, this allows me to add phaser/flanger etc. Did think to myself this is a lot of cash for a number of loops but the GigRig service and people cannot be bested. They help people all the time.
