Page should hook up with this kid. Or, the whole band.
you're a little late on this one... they are old new.
I know at the very least he is aware of them. i'm sure he is flattered by the imitation since they are so young. aside from that I know jimmy has never been a fan of the people who share a sound solely by "coincidence."
Jimmy Page on Kingdom Come & Whitesnake from Musician magazine July 1988:
Musician: Have you listened to Kingdom Come?
Page: Kingdom Clone, you mean? I've heard the album, yeah. I've listened to the album. I was amused, to begin with. It wasn't as amusing as Whitesnake, let's put it that way. Kingdom Come was closer to the bone. The thing that comes to mind is that the guitarist said he'd never heard my playing.
Page: Which I found hard to believe, since the guitarist is from America. A rock 'n' roll guitarist who's never heard any Led Zeppelin music, that's quite amazing. It must be I visit him as a vampire and leave my mark physically.
Musician: You were more amused by David Coverdale?
Page: I was amused when I saw the first video. When the guitarist picked up the bow, I literally fell out my bed laughing. I couldn't believe anyone could be so cheap. That was rather amusing. I guess they're pretty popular. There are real differences between coming up with a riff, restructuring a riff, and just stealing a riff. If you're going to do a song like "Get It On," you should at least try to change the vocal approach as well. Or the melody and the riff are going to sound very familar. And that's the Kingdom of the Clone.
st show I ever witnessed on July 21, 1973.
Exactly 8 PM the lights dimmed and Bonham started with the first sounds. Jimmy Page was 29 when I watched him play. So cool we had 10x50 binoculars with us, and we could see everything in close up detail. The new 16,000 seat Providence Civic Center was about 6 months old at the time. A week later they filmed the movie in NYC.
First time I saw Great Zeppelin was on June 6, 1969, I was on my gold Sting Ray and 10 years old. I had no clue who they were but I knew they were the main band.. The posters said Great Zeppelin. The audience had blimp balloons in the front and the GoodYear blimp was overhead. Was supposed to be 20k people and 80k showed up. This was just before Woodstock. I saw Muddy Waters, Herbie Hancock and Sly and the Family Stone. I did not have a ticket but this is what they looked like.
Too bad the guy plays an SG!!!!!!
What’s new and exciting zep heads? Long time no see!
Good to see you back! Was wondering how you were.
Ehh, I’m still alive! I took a real job so I don’t have time for music and related forums as much
The bootleg recording of the Providence show is readily available. Despite having more than a few cuts it sounds great and is def one of the hottest nights on one of their hottest tours.
Man, that's sad news...
Anyone know which year/concert this was from? I thought it was Japan 71/72.
june 3rd, 1973. kind of hard to date because jimmy changed his shirt in the middle of the show. bonzo didnt get the amber kit until march '73.
Greta Van Fleet are a tribute band under another guise.
another year gone by, jimmy is now 74
Baddest of all bad asses
He is playing what looks to be a real 60-62 SGLP....i like it especially from such a young guy
If Jimmy's not going to use his sound, at least someone will. lol...sigh
