I've been going through a jazz guitar phase lately, it's always been something I enjoyed but never something I really delved into. As jazz goes, I tend to prefer horn players, alot jazz guitarists come off as too "smooth" sounding, but there is a time and a place for that. The players I do enjoy are fairly mainstream, no doubt there are plenty of people out there I've never heard of. Who are some of your favorites?

WesMo, Grant, Kenny B, all great and in regular rotation at Casa del Tompalompico.

Some more guys to check out here; we'll start with Jim Hall, a beautifully understated and incredibly melodic player:

No one, but no one, does solo jazz better than Joe, for my money:

Jimmy Bruno has bit of grit in his groove:

Great jazz guitarist who played well with others, particularly the adventurous saxophonist/clarinetist/flautist
    Jimmy Giuffre---Jim Hall.

While Tony Rice may be taken as a bluegrass guitarist, his work on the David Grisman Quintet album in 1976 contains some of the tastiest jazz playing I've heard.
