So, my Union Jack LP just got back from blue and red coat, and is at last starting to look like a Union Jack. The red here is the final colour, but due to overspray from the blue is going to have another coat. The blue originally was going to be darker, however I have developed a fondness for this shade, so the blue is final coat.

White will go on later, it's currently the part that is taped off.

The body as it is now: (the colours are more true in the second picture)

Seeing as I have all my parts, I put them on the guitar just to see what it'll look like with the colours, so far, it's looking very nice :slash:.

Just guessing, but the spelling of 'colour' suggests he's British.

I both am British and love the flag.

I'm very excited to see how this will come out. I photoshopped the picture with the hardware on so it had the white on, and it looked damn good.

Real cool. I like to see people take cheaper guitars and make them better.

Didn't we just do this in another thread? Deja Vu?

color vs. colour? c'mon people... let's stay focused...

I do dig the UJ graphics on Les Pauls for sure. It's a simple yet effective design for a flag or a guitar.

I do like that UJ LP Jason posted, I was originally going for that, but I'm getting more used to the light blue now.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm sourcing either poly or nitro to finish, and it needs white and another coat of red. Next post will probably be with the white, just a quick one pic post, then it will be a whole thread with before/afters and more details, and of course, the final finished guitar (which will look damn good).

Make sure you sand all the paint out of the neck joint.

you should see how they spell aluminum...

but anyways, that idea is crazy good, second in my opinion only to someone (cant remember who) who put a selection of newsclippings on it then edgebursted it in black... but anyways, cant wait to see it finished!

Wow, the newspaper sounds pretty cool.

I like guitars with bright, simple but effective designs like the Union Jack.

Very Noel Gallagher esque. Nice choice on the lighter blue, although the die hard Scots might not agree.

    Nice work:dude:

I love the Union Jack (and I'm not even Brittish). I think it's one of the best flag designs ever, and it looks gorgeous on a guitar. Can't wait to see that one finished. :applause:

Bit of an old fart rant but I'm not a fan of the Union Jack as a flag. I think the individual flags (St. George, Saltire and St.Patrick's Cross) are nicer uncombined. But as a guitar decoration its much more interesting.
