Hi there guys, I think it is, but just wanted the opinion on experts here, I know, there's the tune-o-matic that matchs the ones used by any Gibson but just wanted to be sure because last thing I heard, chinese knock off are coming with that as well and binding on fret ends, attaching a few images.

    Thanks

Looks legit to me based on the few points I've learned.
Big diamond inlay , proper nut with strings resting on top. Truss rod cover looks good.
    Proper wiring and bridge.
Look at the side of the nut.
Is it cut into the binding , not setting on top?
    Imho it's real .

    Never mind.
I can see the nut cut in from the pic.
    Yup. Good.

At first glance it looks fine...

That square hole in the cavity says its got a maple cap...But whats that do-jigger on the pot...and that grey wire sticking out...?

    Looks like the switch wiring.
    Black, white, and red.
That looks like a terminal strip soldered to the top of the pot?

It's a friend's guitar, he started a post on facebook asking if its real or not, you can image 50% says legit so, not sure I've learned a lot here but this one feels fishy, but not sure why

You can always contact Gibson and run the serial number past them.
I have heard of others doing this by email or phone call.
They can tell you exactly what you have.

If its an 03' then the switch plate is wrong.....it may be a 13'

So they use vinyl insulated wire in these? I have too many historics I guess...

    Real, I'd say 2013, wiring isn't original.

Looks cool to me too but that Gibson Custom stamp on the "volute" area is something I haven't seen before. I mean I've seen it, just looks a little off. But you guys who have chimed in know more than me.

I'd say it's real but 100% it's had some mods done to it . Those pots are OLDER type since they have the Gibson logo stamped on at least 2 of them . That AFAIK isn't/wasn't used in 2013 . Plus it's not original soldering .
The route cut can be squire and have a mahogany top, IIRC. but it's not a solid 1 piece body .
the TR cover sits pretty low ,imo . Like a 60's neck . So if it's got a slim neck .... If not :hmm:

Does the CS shop still use that Logo today ? Haven't seen a new Gibson CS LP Custom lately .
What is the Fret board made of ... That would help in determining the year made . 2013's (unless a special run) normally use Richlite FB's.
If the case is original , it's a newer type Lifton RI case .
seems to be some conflicts about the guitar ...Calling Gibson may give a better focused answer .

    It's a 2013 regular custom.
    Richlite FIngerboard.
Neck is a rounder gently '50. Not really fat, but not a slim.
    Case is correct
Logo on the back is also correct and still being stamped these days.
Wiring has been touched, so I would also check the pup. They should be the typical 490/498 set.

I don't know. It has some weird ghostly swirls in the paint on the back of the headstock that resemble a cell phone.
