Hi! I'm thinking about buying a Tokai. It's second hand on sale for 350 euros. But do you think it's real or fake? I really don't know how to tell.[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

And if it's real, is it better than a Epiphone Les Paul Standard, like this? [IMG]

No. it's just fantasy; you're caught in a landslide and there's no escape from reality ...

(sorry - first thing that sprang into mind when I read your thread title :) )

I have no idea if its fake - does anyone ever fake Tokai's? Isn't that kinda like a fake of a copy? It's already a copy, if you were gonna fake something you'd fake a Gibson or maybe an Epiphone, right?

Whatever it is, I think it looks pretty nice. :)

I've heard that there were quite a few Tokai-fakes.
It looks very nice indeed. Would you choose the Tokai over the Epihone?

I think it is but need to get confirmation from the guys here. I haven't got time to do the research right now....maybe later. Until then, hang on.

In terms of Tokai vs Epiphone, if both were genuine, I'd choose the one that felt/played better.

It's a Chinese Tokai, not as good as a Japanese Tokai, but not awful either.

Kind of the equivalent of what an Epiphone is to a Gibson.

Thanks all! Which one would you choose?
The Tokai is used, the Epiphone as good as new

This is a Tokai made in China, low range model.

    Same level than Epiphone.

    Yes, I played many Tokai.

I made a mistake buyinf a fake Epiphone and it is sold , this fake Epiphone was better than some branded Epiphone.

I bought a fake Tokai. I have written about it in here a few times. They are faked very often as my 15 minutes in the world of Tokai showed me.

Why did you sell a guitar knowing it was fake? You do realize that's illegal, right?

Keeping fake guitars in circulation by selling them onto people makes you part of the problem

I like the caramel colour of the top. I can't tell you if it's a fake though sorry. It's not an obvious one if it is. Yes people fake all brands, tokai is no exception. You could try over at the tokai forum. Good luck.

I'm not sure why anyone would bother faking a Chinese Tokai...
