I have an Ibanez John Scofield jsm10 that I adore. It is t he Chinese version of the jsm100 and is actually closer in specs to Scofield's as200. It is a better guitar than my es335.

Look at the new Guild Starfire VI. $1100.00 and the reviews and demos look great. I’m planning on getting one down the road. I’ve owed a Sheraton. I loved the way it played and sounded but it had too much bling on it for me.

The Korean made Vester MOD 700 is a real surprise. They don't come up very often. Here are my two. Much better than Epis and Arias. DSCF0655.JPG DSCF0795.JPG

Ibanez, because you can play them in-store and see how much better they are than the Epiphones...

I ended up getting the ASV10A "Relic" like this...

I have an Eastman T-486 and it's worth every penny in quality and craftsmanship. They use top-notch electronics too, where that's where most other companies skimp. The only shortcoming for the Eastmans' is their robust necks. If you want chunky, you will get what you want here. If you want slim, look elsewhere, but I don't let that keep me from enjoying the hell out of her.

Look for a nice used Yamaha SA2000 or SA2100 or SA2200. Earlier to later generations of their semi hollow very similar to an ES335. And all that genuine MIJ craftsmanship as well. Killer guitars usually.

I didn't own one, but I had one that I played a lot, even gigged with it. Great, great guitar.

Epiphone Sheraton II's from the 90's, MIK, best bargain in a 335 you can get.
The IBANEZ Artcore as-73, while not quite a copy, plays and sounds just as good as any 1K guitar, at 399 new.

Epiphone Dots are great guitars! I had one for a few years, sold it to finance another guitar. Wish I hadn't. Wonderful tones coming out of that guitar.

Epiphone Dot. I can't say enough good things about it. $429 brand new. You can't beat it.

I don't know if this qualifies, but my Guild Starfire IV ST is a fantastic double cut semi hollow.
It works so well for me it's the only semi hollow I have...
