I don't expect an Epiphone or other budget models to sound as good or play as well as a Gibson of course, I just wonder if you guys have any pleasant experiences with such guitars. I'd really like one but I don't have that kind of cash. Thanks for your help.

I've had a hankering for an Eastman T-386. Heard great things, top notch craftsmanship too if it's anything like my Eastman mandolin. [IMG]

I wish I could get a Gibson Vegas High Roller, or even a Chinese copy of one.

I have a bunch of higher end Gibson hollow bodies and I still really dig my Sheraton.

Me three.. my (natural) sheraton is currently my favourite. Quality is flawless, it has been setup nicely, and can be found almost anywhere, for not a lot of cash. Absolute treasures.

Yamaha SA 500. If your local used market is decent, an MIJ Vantage is fabulous and can often be had for under $500.

Many choices! Just gotta go play em. Neither my Tokai or my FGN are "settling". They're both the real deal in my book. Others already listed and I'm sure more to come.
I took a chance on a Gibson Memphis studio and I'm enjoying it as well. It 's not on the same level as the other two listed, but it's a nice piece. Barely used or on an occasional blow out, the studio is great bang for the buck.

My 2005 335 is my #1 but I've had Epiphone Dots in the past that were pretty darned good. Tried a Riviera P93 recently which was excellent but it sold before I decided whether I needed another semi-hollow or not.

I put 57 Classics and a full harness in my 1997 MIK Sheraton and it is a tonal match for my Gibson ES 335 with the same.

The Epi 335 and 335 Pro are excellent, and very affordable, out of the box. No shame. Great guitars.

I have played $400 Ibanez semis and full hollows that were excellent. No apologies needed.

If you can swing a Tokai 138 like Pop has got, you definitely won't be sorry and will probably never envy a real ES.

This is an awesome guitar. I have recorded with it and other players wanted more info when the producer played the tracks for their feedback.

Nothing wrong with the EPI model their very good guitars. You can try Heritage, a little more money but not as much as a Gibson.

Yeah, I've heard and read a lot of good things on the Epi 335 pro. I may be wrong but maybe they aren't making them anymore. Anyway, they pop up on Ebay from time to time, and yes, they're affordable. I may try to find one used somewhere.

I've got an Ibanez Artcore hollow body (AFJ95VSB) that is pretty sweet for a Chinese guitar actually. Might look into one of their 335-ish guitars. I like the pups they use.

The Tokais are awesome but maybe a bit pricey for me right now. They're as nice as Gibsons in every way imo.

Heritage 535's are great guitars. Hardly cheap or budget, though. Or, at least, not that I have seen. Point me at one for less than $1k and I will buy it. They usually go for as much a the standard USA model ES 335. $1800 and up.
