in recent years I have seen what seems to be a shift of interest from the Gibson LP to the Epiphone Les Paul models, I see on utube & multiple forums that gibson seems to have less favorable reviews and it seems that players are increasingly favoring epiphone as an alternative. as most epiphones are made in china now I would think that quality control would be an issue. I know that my epiphone ( 2012) has softer fret metal causing frets to wear more quickly.and some electronics are of less quality. but is the tide turning for epiphone ???

I am in the market for an upgrade soon I am split on which to buy

I think the quality and value with many of the Gibson Tributes I've seen reverses your question. I think Gibson has closed the gap on Epiphone by providing some really nice pieces at more realistic prices.

BTW, there is no gap between Epi and Gibson

Gibson had clossed those gap long ago with selling their $100 Guitars for $400-500 :naughty:
