Upgraded the iPad this arvo and so far I’m most impressed!
Downloading now, I'll see .
Seems okay but, much like the iPhone 8, I’m not sure it justifies a major version jump - at least from what can be “seen” by the end user. Maybe it’s a total re-write under the hood.
Don't see much difference to be honest. My email and texts page looks somewhat bland. Guess I will have to play around with it to see what is really new and worth the upgrade.
Okay I will add this ... it seems to be going faster.
The update is over 2 gig, and has a LOT of very good enhancements under the hood. Not all improvements are visible to the end user.
Waiting for 11.1. looking forward to trying it when it's released.
They already came out with 11.1
I didn’t like it at 11.0, and I’m not a fan of 11.1. There is a huge lag in everything after installing (which does eventually go away), and now I have to relearn double clicking and such to close screens.
My least favorite is how iTunes is creating music lists. If I’m in my car I can push a button on my stereo, say “play artist x” and iTunes compiles music from that artist. I can still do that but I can’t go back anymore. I can skip forward, just not back.
I’m sure there are a lot of new features, but I’m thinking none of them concern me because I haven’t come across them yet.
Edit: My bad. The update was 11.0.1 and not 11.1.
havent updated. my phone is running like sh*t but I have a feeling it will be worse with the update.
My phone did the same before the update. It just ran like krap. I did the update and for a short while it was worse, but it did get better. Then the patch came out, ran like krap, then started getting better again.
The outstanding thing to me is with the keyboard! secondary numbers/letters/symbols are on the primary keys and rather than selecting them from another page, you just pull the key down to get them. Give it a go, it's really convenient!
ios 11.0.1 takes up over 1gb of memory...
My IPhone 7 is a lot better. They got rid of that goddam “undo” button and the arrow keys that would inexplicably stop the typing and scroll to be bottom of the fuckin page.
I really wish I could set up the keyboard how I want it. It would be handy to add symbols and stuff.
It seems like the phone does run better.
Well since using it for a few days now, though it is much faster, it bloody eats up my battery life real quick.
I don’t run anything on my phone apart from a few things but it goes down really quick now.
I’m having to take my charger out with me which I usually don’t even when I’ve used the phone a lot during the day .
My son won’t upgade his and also has iPhone. His battery is using less and he is using phone more than me.
I guess it isn’t as great after all.
Had I had time to check it out before upgrading, I would not have done it. But I was about to go to airport and darn thing was telling me I needed the update, so I wasn’t thinking.
Not totally related but, conversely, the new Android OS - Oreo - seems to be a real battery sipper. I run my phone pretty lean without much crap running in the background and the battery lasts quite a long time. I can leave it off the charger for a couple of days and still have decent battery life left.
Take my analysis with a grain of salt though as I don't use my phone (Nexus 5X) for much except phone calls and texting; folks who surf the web, play games and other stuff will definitely have a different experience.
I just got the upgrade notice....Ignore? or go get it?
Battery life is sacred ....(almost)
11.1 should be out soon, I'm waiting.
I’ve barely used my phone today and I’m down to 66 per cent already. Posting here earlier took 5 percent for one post.
I don’t get it.
Didn’t have this issue until upgrade. My battery lasted a day at least with heavy use or 2 days or more with normal use including posting here .
Something they changed is eating it .
And this was for 11.01 just to be clear
If I could go back in time I’d ignore it. This is the first iOS version I hated out the gate.
Same here. Installed 11.0 on my iPhone 6 and immediately noticed degraded battery life. So bad I was seriously considering downgrading (via restore) to 10.3.3.
Then I installed 11.0.1 and battery life has stabilized, but not as good as 10.3.3.
