For many, many, many years my dream guitar, my "holy grail" guitar has been a late 70's/early 80's USA BC Rich Mockingbird with birdseye maple, bells & whistles electronics, and diamond inlays instead of clouds. I've been looking for ages. The few I've seen for sale were priced at $3,500.00 and up. Not that these old BCRs aren't worth it, it's just too much money for me to spend on a guitar. Once in a while a refin and/or finish stripped example pops up but usually when they do it's not what I wanted, or I didn't have the money at the time. Well yesterday a perfect storm happened. The exact guitar I want (all original), for a really great price, while I had the money to buy it.

I don't get it until Wednesday or Thursday though :(. After that let the neck dive begin :).

    1980 USA BC Rich Mockingbird

My patience has finally paid off.

Nice! Glad you're able to pull the trigger on the grail, that must be. A great feeling for sure.

I'd be happy to narrow down my wish list to actually HAVE a grail.

I'm the same. I've had a lot of BCR guitars, but Mockingbirds are my favorite. This will be my third, but first USA model.

Thanks! Neal Geraldo played an Eagle though, which is also a beautiful guitar.

I remember the thread where you almost got what you wanted, and found it to be the wrong model.

    Nice score!

I saw Neil Geraldo on Friday. The whole set was a pair of non-hum bucket Les Pauls, right up to the finale, where he pulled out a Tele and tore the roof off the place. All three guitars were Bigsby'ed.

Not a BC Rich in sight.

Yours is Rick Derringer-lookin', to me.

Lovely! Wanted one ever since seeing it (a translucent blue one, I think) in "The Sounds Book of the Electric Guitar".

There's always that part of me that appreciates a little dent or whatever when I buy used. I feel more at home with that. This time no. I've waited a long time for this one. It is going to be babied no matter what.

I think you're thinking of the Neal Geraldo signature Eagle I bought last year. I knew going in what I was getting, problem was it was destroyed by the time it got to the luthier. Either way, this is way better.

Rick Derringer played a Mockingbird for several years. He was the one who turned NG on to BCR. Eventually RD helped design the BCR Stealth which is also a very cool guitar.

I'm surprised NG wasn't playing Gretsch.
