Hey, why not..It'd be interesting to experiment..and see just how bad they are LOL..though the stock units on my old 74 Tele Thinline were JUST fine..as were all of the other 70's Fenders I have seen or played..the '74 Strat I just tried was great too! It wasn't until the forum experts told me how bad they truly were..

Funny, back in the day..I sure don't recall anyone retrofitting the bent steel saddles..if they intonated and were able to be height adjustable, they were good enough!! They were certainly good enough for Robin Trower and Ritchie Blackmore..
They look the part in my opinion!
    A '72 for comparison:

For 20 bucks, why not? I have 2 70's Classics..one of them is gonna get a set just to see!

So you have the bent metal on there now?

I know its the subject of many jokes around here, but this will change your tonez.

You may like the difference, I'm just puttin' it out there.

I have had both types down through the years, only the Les Paul is new to me, not strats.

And a little less bright strat may not be a bad thing after all....

My trans white AmerDlx has graphtec saddles and nickle strings to calm the brightness when it had those noiseless pickups in it.

Beside all the other reasons there is you. :squint:

You are a purist and like everything to be period correct, so for you this would be a given, right along with proper knobs and tuners!

This is the joy of strats! Easy and relatively cheap to mod, fix, or customize!

Hope you are enjoying it! :jam:

Yeah, the bent metal..but aware of the possible tone change, which again may not be a bad thing..most likely can be compensated for with a tweak of the EQ...not expecting earth-shattering changes at all.

And YES, it will be more era correct too!

Specs wise, one could be the "73 RI" with those saddles, and dome head non countersunk pickup and switch screws , the other can be an "early '72" RI! :D

I could put the Pure Vintage PAT PEND saddles on the Natural one for this look.

Have no idea if they are metric or SAE, they came stock with my 72 RI Fender. Mine's is a CIJ BTW. They just complete the look if your into period correctness, minimal effect in tone IMO because I always play dirty :)

Here's an ad pic, mines the candy apple red.
