IMG_2946.JPG i haven't owned an acoustic in over a decade and even then it was a cheap ovation. But I decided over the holiday I wanted a cheap beater acoustic. I played some of the ibanez, fender and epi models but was most impressed with a Yamaha for $250.

I was all set to buy it but then I came across a used acoustic electric Morgan Monroe with a case much much less. Seems it's a Martin knockoff according to the salesman (I know jack sheet about acoustics), so he hands me the Martin it's supposed to be copying.

Was the Martin better? Oh hell yes. :)

    Was it 23 times better?:hmm:

Anyhoo, so I walked out with a $100 POS I've never heard of. Did I get ripped off? Maybe. But it sounds better than my friends MIM Martin so at least I have that going for me :laugh2:

Morgan Monroe are well made PacRim guitars that came out in the early '00s and are well respected for what they are. I'd say for $100 you did good.

    1. It certainly seems like a decent sounding guitar for the money. I do look forward to comparing it my buddy's martins and his 6 Gibson whatever model it is.....for the Lolz of course.

If I didn't know any better, I'd almost think the fretboard was ebony.

Many years ago I borrowed a South American - made odd brand acoustic guitar, played it for 2 weeks...Amazing sound!, one of the best I have ever played even now...can't remember what it was, though. Getting too old for this "memory" stuff...But every so often, one of those cheap no-name guitars will just blow everything else away.
