how quiet can you get and still hear the AX8?

OK, this is sort of a joke thread.

I was experimenting with making an actual video (as opposed to just a sound file) with my phone (Galaxy S7).

Then I had to figure out how to transfer it from phone to laptop.

I ended up loading it straight to youtube and learning to do a little editing.

And now I have to learn how to make it so you can actually hear the AX8.

So enjoy the sound of the ES LP acoustically with a little bit of the Badger 18 model on the AX8 buzzing away in the background.

I can, and I've lost a lot of hearing from too much Sabbath (is there such a thing?)

Just saying, you know it's quiet when you hear the strings over the speakers. Nice! That's the part of modeling that I like! Low volume tone!

    Thanks guys. :yesway:

The K8/AX8 are louder in the room. I am trying to get that to translate to audio without having to turn up. Mostly because I really can't turn up.

    More experiments to come.

I like the video thing. And I think the Galaxy sounds pretty good.

It is louder in the room.

I need to move the camera/mic closer. I think. These PA style speakers are hard to capture. Or record direct.

Get your phone about 6 inches from the speaker. I can hear my strings in the room during the demo vides I make but the phone mic is close to the speaker and my guitar is behind the phone altogether. my QSC is up 3 clicks on the back and the master on the Kemper is very low.

    Thank you, Mr. Bear! :thumb:

I was resting my phone against my Maxon OD808 set on a guitar case.

I might invest in a tripod.

It is actually almost easier to just record video.

The vid in the OP was 100% first try. The phone was a good 3 ft. away from the K8 and positioned another 12 inches below the speaker.

If I can play half decent today, I will try again. :jam:

I raised the volume just a bit. Moved the camera/phone to about 6 inches from the grill of the K8, just above the center of the 8" driver. Not bad.

More experimentation and demos to come (hopefully).

If you keep making these videos, we can start an apple vs android rant :laugh2:

I am really liking these basic types of videos, it gives a person a better idea what to expect when they experience the modeling units in their bedrooms :thumb:

Yessir! Yours have been a great inspiration.

I don't have any grand ambitions, but if I can share a few decent tones (or maybe people will think they suck, which is fine, too :yesway: ), I will.

WOnder if it has to do with proximity. Your guitar was closer, so it picked that up stronger. I am guessing the mic has a limited range.

On the vid, nice sparkly highs with a bit of growl in the low-end nice. Though on the vid, the high end was over represented from the lower frequencies. Did it sound as unbalanced in the room? I am guessing not, which would mean a killer fat clean tone.

Through my ear buds, it is a pretty accurate representation of the sound in the room. The acoustic sound of the guitar is probably adding some sparkle to the high end. When I set the LF flat, the woofiness that I don't like comes back. It is a Princeton model. It shouldn't have a very prominent low end, imho.

More to come, but I have been more busy than usual lately and suffering from a lack of talent, even worse than usual.
