Sweetwater seems to show right around the 8 lb mark is average with a few ounces of wiggle room either way.
Thanks. I have a MIJ, '70's? knock-off with a set neck. It seemed kinda light. The previous owner upgraded the tuners. Guess what? They are genuine Gibson "Flower" tuners. They are worth more than what I paid for the complete guitar.
How much does an les Paul weigh?
10 to 12 tons.
7.5-8.5 lbs on average
A lot of the imported knock-offs are true hollow-bodies, or use a lighter wood for the center block. I've seen some with Balsa in the center, which weighs almost nothing (Gibson used this in the Studio Lite series in the '90s and called it "Chromite" - much like they call their masonite finger boards "Richlite" today!). Some of these are in the ES-330 weight range, around 7 lbs!
My '14 Warren Haynes 335 per Sweetwater weighs 7 lb 10 oz.
Off topic, I know, but I own one of these Studio Lites... yes, about 7.5lbs. But the amount of wood removed and replaced with Balsa is actually less than weight relieved guitars. They do sound a little different. Still, Ebony fretboard on a non-white LP Studio, is pretty cool.
2017 ES-335, Figured Cherry, 8 lb. 5 oz. (after replacing standard Grovers with locking Grovers).
