Me and a friend were talking the other day about what guitars we've owned in our lives. He listed 3- his acoustic, a blue tokai strat and an early 80s tokai Breezy sound (tele). I then listed what I've owned in the last 17 years, and it's absolutely ridiculous. List all the guitars you've ever owned, whether you do still now.

    Here's mine, in order

    1. 60s acoustic handed down from my mum*
    2. 90s Encore classical guitar
    3. Squire affinity strat
    4. Epiphone Les Paul Special II
    5. Encore 1 humbucker guitar
    6. Crafter Cruiser Strat Copy
    7. Encore Acoustic
    8. Stagg Les Paul copy (worst guitar I've ever owned)
    9. Washburn Superstrat
    10. Peavey Fat strat
    11. Vintage ES 335 Copy*
    12. Vintage SG copy
    13. Epiphone SG
    14. Epiphone Les Paul Custom*
    15. Fender Acoustic*
    16. ESP LTD M50 (hate em, but rescued from a mate's garage)
    17.Gibson Les Paul Special
    18. Fender Lite Ash Tele
    19. Fret King Country Squire
    20. Epiphone Les Paul Classic GT
    21. Gibson Les Paul Studio*
    22. Gibson '61 Melody Maker*

    *Guitars I still own

I can see some people on here will have farrr longer lists...

I can't remember - and that's an honest answer. Maybe as many as a hundred, certainly but more than fifty or sixty including basses & acoustics. Over the last 36 years I've owned various Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, Cort, Hagstrom, Epiphone, Maton, Cole Clarke, SD Curlee, Tokai, Guyatone, Guild guitars...and others that I can't recall at the moment.

I did a count some time ago, and came up with 38, including electrics, acoustics, and bases, including the 13 I have now (in my sig). The 25 not in my sig include those that I no longer have, or guitars that aren't in playable condition:

1968 Unknown brand used folk guitar (my very first guitar, a gift from sister-in-law 1970) I still have this, but only for sentimental reasons - it's become unplayable.
1961 Hofner Verithin (my first electric, a gift from Dad for a great final report card in grade 7, 1972) (right-handed, cherry red stain, destroyed 1979)
1973 Univox SG copy (right-handed) (black) (sold 1974)
1973 Univox SG copy (right-handed) (mahogany red) (sold 1974)
1966 Fender Mustang (right-handed, white, gift from Dad 1974) (destroyed, then parted 1980)
1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe (Christmas gift from Dad 1977) (the first lefty) (stolen from car 1982)
1976 Yamaki acoustic (natural spruce) (traded for Northern Stratocaster copy)
1978 Northern Stratocaster copy (white) (right-handed) (parted)
1978 Fender Telecaster (blonde) (neck sold 1988 w/ Shark body; orig body & pups kept)
1982 Custom-Made BC Rich Eagle Bass (short scale, flamed maple, natural finish) (sold 1988)
1986 TCM SuperStrat (Returned to vendor 1987)
1986 TCM Headless Steinberger-like bass (Returned to vendor 1987)
1985 Lado Solo IV Bass (flamed maple, dark blue stain) (sold 1988)
1985 Lado Stratocaster-style, Kahler vibrato (white) (sold 1994)
1986 Lado Stratocaster-style, Kahler vibrato (pink pearl – later refinished maroon) (sold 1994)
1978 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop (sold 1994)
1988 Shark\Fender Telecaster (natural) (body sold 1988 with original ’78 Tele neck, Seymour Duncan pups)
1991 Gibson Les Paul Standard (sold 1995)
1994 Telecaster Rebuild (original Tele body & pups, Warmouth neck) (refinished black) (parted 2007)
1995 Fender American Standard Stratocaster (candy apple red) (sold 2002)
2001 Epiphone Sheraton (brown sunburst) (sold 2009)
2005 Gibson Les Paul Studio (wine red, gold hardware) (sold 2009)
2009 Bulldog Les Paul Standard Goldtop "relic" replica (built in 2009) - I have this but it's not finished, so I don't list it as a "current" guitar
2008 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Cherry Sunburst (purchased online 2009) (sold 2010)
2006 Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cut (Worn Cherry) (purchased on eBay August 2008) (sold 2009)

I also have a Carvin neck-through neck blank that I'm planning to use for a Ric 625-style home brew, and a POS Musoland fake LP that I'm ashamed to put on any list.

    i know its pretty disgusting
especialy since there are some guitars in there
that are worth alot of money now days, and back then
i would trade them in for hardly anything

But i started young, was playing gigs when i was 13 in 1967

There's a couple that I really wish I'd never sold - I had an SD Curlee fretless bass and a seventies Hagstrom Swede that were both phenomenal sounding and playing guitars, and really quite rare and unique items. I sold them WAY cheap back in the day...along with a lot of other stuff during the drugged out years.
